Topic-icon Comments and social icons disappear after update

Siteground hosting. Site was 3.7.4 today, comments and buttons working fine. Updated to JFBC 7.2.1 and comments, all social buttons gone.

reinstalled again, no change. Checked and reinput sourcecoast subscription ID. Checked all settings against previous "staging" copy.

That staging copy is staging4.speedonthewater.com

Butlive production site speedonthewater.com... the comments and icons gone. I did autotune. Turned plugins on and off.

No luck. Could you please have a look? Thank you .

I'd recommend disabling JCH Optimize, or any other caching/optimization extensions you have, and try again. It's possible their caches just need to be cleared and rebuilt or something, but trying without them is the first step to narrowing things down.

Right now, some of the Facebook Javascript that JFBConnect should be including on the page isn't there and we'll need to narrow down why.

I hope that helps,
Alex

I've disabled JCH...removed what it had written on htaccess. turned off all the caching ... no system cache, no jsg cache, nada. No luck.
I"ve compared settings at staging4.speedonthewater.com and speedonthewater.com... and cannot see what the problem is. This is a big problem for us as we drive a lot of traffic between facebook and the site.

I would be DELIGHTED to pay you for help. May I please send you a hundred euros or dollars and PM the admin logins for both live site and staging?

Getting this error in Autotune error check:

JFBConnect Remote Error Check
Checks performed on: speedonthewater.com/
Warning: Issues were found with your site. Please check all tests below and correct any warnings or errors.

Test: JFBCSystem plugin is enabled
Fail: Not Detected! Please enable in the Site Config area of Autotune or in the Joomla plugin manager.

1. Plugin IS enabled in Joomla plugin manager.

2. I uninstalled and reinstalled, no change. Tried installing previous version. No change. ONE TIME for a few moments after reinstall it showed all green checks. But then moments later... same failure.

I've spent HOURS on this. I cannot for the life of me solve it. Please help. Will pay for time. Thanks.

Please disable all the optimization stuff on your staging site and leave it off. It's impossible to diagnose anything when the output of the page is compressed, rearranged and obscured.

Once those are disabled, if it's still not working, you can send me a PM with credentials for your site and we can look into what may be causing the problems. To send a Private Message, you click the mail icon under my name to the left.

Thanks,
Alex

I sent admin info 2 days ago, confirming you received. I haven't seen paypal invoice, may I please pay you and get this sorted ASAP? I have tried for hours to solve this. Client is barking at me. Please advise, or recommend another JFBC expert I can pay. I've been a customer for 10 years.

Using this page as the test page to compare staging2 to the live site, here's what I see:
in-the-news/commentary/4502-real-heroes-getting-recognition

On the live site, Phoca is trying to include a Facebook comment block, which is not shown on the page either. In the block for the comment area is the following inclusion of the Facebook Javascript library:
<script>(function(d){
  var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk'; if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}
  js = d.createElement('script'); js.id = id; js.async = true;
  js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&amp;appId=686516771546446";
  d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(js);
}(document));</script>
That extra inclusion of the Facebook Javascript library (the very, very old version as well) is likely causing your problems on the live site. Please disable the Facebook comments integration in Phoca and see if that fixes things. I don't have access to the live site, so I can't test that directly.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Hi Alex

I tried putting in Phoca comments today just as a desperate move to get comments and a like button in.

i've disabled in both staging2.speedonthewater.com and live site speedonthewater.com

no luck

there IS a staging copy where JFBC is working OK. staging4.speedonthewater.com

I can send admin and ftp to all three. How do i send that to you securely?

Please tell me how to toss some money at this. Thanks.

Looking at the admin area of staging2, I can't see what's wrong and I'm not sure how much we can help. We don't know your site and there are many plugins and other extensions installed. With template settings and other options, it's going to be very hard to narrow down what's different or wrong between the sites.

I'd recommend ensuring the order of the plugins is the exact same between both sites and, barring no other solution, restore a backup that works and slowly upgrade features testing along the way.

I hope that helps, but let us know anything you find. We'll gladly help however we can, but it will take quite some time for us to do this since we'd need to start with understanding the site itself.

Thanks,
Alex
