facebook page tab was created by flobau
Hello,
I was thinking about displaying my website in a facebook page tab. But as the page tabs are not displayed in the facebook mobile app and if I post a link to the tab it would be not reachable on mobile phones, it would be great if there would be a integrated browser switch. So that if users on desktop would visit the tab the land on the page inside facebook, whereas mobile browsers would be redirect to the normal website.
Ever thought of that?
thank you

Unfortunately, we can't really do that. While we don't like that the Facebook Page Tabs aren't shown in mobile, we can't do much about it. Facebook has restrictions on what can and can't be done within an Page Tab. Setting up a Page tab whose primary purpose is to redirect the user to an external website off Facebook.com can get your application blocked, which causes lots of other problems.

We try to steer well inside of Facebook's API terms of service to make sure our users don't run afoul and get in trouble for things they may not even be aware are against the rules.

I hope that helps answer your question, but if you have any other feedback or suggestions, we're always listening.

Thanks,
Alex

ok, I understand the problem. What I did is create a separate page which the switch facebook-tab/normal version for mobiles and use this url via a url-shortener whenever I post a link to the tab on facebook. this way it would be useable for all devices. It would be great if there was some kind of way to achieve this within the component!

I'm really not following how you implemented things above. What are you using as this other page to determine whether to go to the Facebook Page Tab or to the mobile view? Seems interesting, but would need to know more to understand if it's even something we could do in JFBConnect.

Thanks,
Alex
