Hello,

I am using JFBC 7.0.0 with Joomla 3.5.1.
Check out the following web page:
The Ultimate Guide to Rapid Reporting for FRCR 2B

Also, I have attached screenshots showing the issues.

Issues:

1. If you look at top left and bottom right JFBC widgets, there is difference in numbers of likes..in fact the bottom right is correct and the top left is showing zero likes! I noticed this since a few days.
2. There are at least 4 comments on this page, however, the comments plugin does not show any comments! This is also happening since a few days.

What is wrong here? Is JFBC using 2 different URLs?

I think the issue may be related to domain change. I had changed 6-7 months back and since that time the old domain was being redirected to the current one. Few days back I stopped the redirection from old domain to new domain and possibly since that time this page is showing 2 different likes/shares and missing comments. I may be wrong..but that's just a guess.

I found similar issue other user had at:

www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...d-domain-info#p36747

But no solution has been posted.

Unfortunately, if your domain/the URLs have changed, there's no solution. Facebook ties the likes and comments to a specific URL. If the URL changes, the likes/comments will be tied to the new URL.

Hello Melissa,

I understand that after domain change facebook will consider the page as new one for the new domain and will start counting likes from zero again.
But, why JFBC is showing 2 different values in 2 different widgets on the same page? Answer to this question is important.
Besides, I had changed the domain 6 months ago, and this issue started few days ago.

But, why JFBC is showing 2 different values in 2 different widgets on the same page?

Please give me the specific URL for this behavior. I would like to look at page source/developer tools to see how the widgets are configured.

Besides, I had changed the domain 6 months ago, and this issue started few days ago.

As you mentioned, you stopped the redirection from the old domain to the new domain a few days ago. Facebook follows these redirects, so if the old URL and the new URL aren't associated in any way, how would Facebook know that they're related?

I am sorry for my confusion. I missed the link when I was answering the previous post.

The counts are different because the widgets are pointing at two different URL values. The like/share at the top from our content plugin is pointing at www.medmantra.com/frcr-radiology-article...r-2b-rapid-reporting and the Like at the bottom from the JFBCSocialShare module is pointing at the www.medmantra.com/frcr-radiology-article...r-2b-rapid-reporting.

After reviewing the code, here's the explanation of why they are different: The content plugin knows that we're on a Joomla article page, and thus uses the info from the current URL, category, slug, etc to build the URL using the Joomla article helper to get the full URL of the article. The JFBCSocialShare module is not set up to detect the type of page it's on, so it is using a more generic method to take the current URL and strip any query strings off of it.

We could provide a workaround for the module so that we try to use the same method as the content plugin when on an article page, so the URLs will sync up. However, the counts going forward would match the one that you see at the top of the page from the content plugin. In your case at the example link, it would reset your count to 0 (unless you set up a redirect of the specific pages to keep the like counts)

Hello Melissa,

I redirected the 0-likes URL to likes and comments URL using sh404SEF and everything is fine now!
Thanks a lot!

I'm glad you got it working. I'm going to make an issue in our tracker to address the URL differences between the content plugin and JFBCSocialShare module. Let us know if you continue to run into difficulties regarding this issue.
