I really need help here. I'm using the latest version of JFBConnect. I'm also using the latest version of Jomsocial and recently I received a message from a new user saying that she wasn't able to login to my community after entering the first basic information (name, user name and password) and clicking "next". I went to Joomla's backend to investigate and I noticed that the registration is actually not being recorded at all (not saved in the database or in Joomla's users manager page).

The registration form was working normally until last week, then this issue started out of nowhere. I didn't install any external plugin or component recently. I found this on debug section:

⇒{"__default":{"session":{"counter":43,"timer":{"start":1458477611,"last":1458479027,"now":1458479028},"token":"6e24a2e253fbc199431edf8e8a7dcbe4"},"registry":{"users":{"login":{"form":{"data":{"return":"http:\/\/www.(mywebsite).com\/friends\/register\/default"}}}}},"user":{"id":0,"name":null,"username":null,"email":null,"password":null,"password_clear":"","block":null,"sendEmail":0,"registerDate":null,"lastvisitDate":null,"activation":null,"params":null,"groups":["9"],"guest":1,"lastResetTime":null,"resetCount":null,"requireReset":null,"aid":0},"jomsocial_userip":"50.98.231.125","groups_name_3":"Advanced English Practice","JS_REG_TOKEN":"6e24a2e253fbc199431edf8e8a7dcbe4","application":{"queue":null}}}

Somebody help me, please!

Thanks.

Is this through the standard JomSocial registration process, or using the social authentication process within JFBConnect? If it's the JomSocial registration flow, I'd have to suggest contacting them. I don't know what that blob of debug text is for or means and it's specific to JomSocial.

If the issue only happens with social authentications, then it's something we could investigate further. From what you describe above though, I don't think the issue is related to our extension.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply. You see, I made some changes in JFBConnect, but I didn't change anything on Jomsocial recently. What I did on JFBConnect was:

1. I enabled Facebook like button and comments on selected pages of my website.
2. I enabled social profiles import and set some fields for each of them (Facebook, Tweeter, etc.). This was undone, but maybe I changed something I shouldn't.
3. I enabled and disabled some JFBConnect functions an plugins, trying to make the RSS feed work on my website (we talked about that on a previous post). This was undone, but maybe I forgot something.

These changes were made on March 14 and this is when the registration issue started. As I don't believe in coincidences, I decided to investigate JFBConnect as well as Jomsocial. Is there a safe way for me to send you my ftp and Joomla backend credentials so you can take a look to see if I messed up with something in JFBConnect?

Many thanks,

Steve

Steve,
It's very easy to disable JFBConnect completely - Disable our System plugin. You can also disable the JFBConnect authentication and user plugins as well, since you're having issues during registration, but those don't really do that much if the system plugin is enabled.

You never really answered the question, but I'm assuming the issue is with standard JomSocial registration above. If so, my recommendation for disabling those plugins to narrow down where the issue lies is the best first step. If you still are having issues, then it's not related to JFBConnect since our extension won't be running at that point. None of the things you mentioned configuring would affect a normal JomSocial registration either way, but good to eliminate JFBConnect as the possible culprit entirely.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I solved the problem by restoring a backup of my website. Now everything is working properly, but I still don't know what caused the Jomsocial redirection failure.Unfortunately Jomsocial support is pretty much useless (regardless the amount they charge us). Anyways, thanks for your assistance.

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,
I'm glad to hear you got things going.. even if it sounds like you had to take a hammer to it by restoring a backup :)

As you toggle settings or modify features, keep testing. That way, you'll hopefully catch the problem right when it happens which will help diagnose things a bit.

Of course, if you ever need anything, just let us know and we'll help however we can.

Thanks,
Alex
