Hi,

I experienced some issues..

JFBConnect Version: 6.4.2

1/ I ran Auto Tune
I appeared to make sense and all seemed good.
I do not have an App yet but that part appears understandable for later.
Appears OK

2/ Basic Info appears OK
I can't seem to find Twitter API Secret in my files and Twitter process gets complicated tells me I already exist.
I got the APIs in 2014 . I hope they are not out of date.
Other than the Twitter Secret Key this appears OK.
Not clear how to proceed further with Twitter.

3/ Site Check - All good. Appears OK

4/ Error Check failed.
I temporarily disabled htaccess block (site is unfinished) but got Error:

Error: Could not fetch page. Server returned:
Error Code: 403 - Forbidden. Is a firewall enabled?

I disabled firewall but it failed again. Same error.

5/ Buttons used on articles :
• Tweet - Appears to work but no confirmation
• G+1 Renders a triangle with a ! which when clicked goes here:
support.google.com/plus/answer/1047397?p..._error&hl=en-GB&rd=2
Sends me to a long winded page telling me "How to HAdd a button" developers.google.com/+/web/+1button/
I'm not exactly sure I understand which part is "outdated"
• Facebook share renders 401 Unauthorised

6/ I activated JFBC Social Share, I'm not sure what it does. Orif there is anything more for me to do here.

7/ Buttons now appear in the SCLog In pop up.
Attempted Login with twitter says: The requested page can't be found.
Attempted Login with G1 says: 401. That’s an error. Error: invalid_client The OAuth client was not found.Request Details That’s all we know.

Login with Facebook went to Easy Social Registration:
So;
In SC> Configuration>User, I set all User settings to 'yes'
Facebook button then effected a smooth login.

But Twitter and G1 did not.

How can I get the Twitter and G1 buttons to effect a login (or remove them from the SCLogin pop up field?)

It's clear I have some tweaking ahead but I'm not sure what to do (or undo) next.

Being new at this feature I'm possibly a bit overwhelmed and overthinking it.
I'm sure it will emerge as straightforward in the course of time but now I feel I need a little guidance to boost my confidence.

Will appreciate all feedback.

Regards,

Also I appear to be having an issue with the Welcome On Board! auto generated email.
The description name over the top of the sender email is that of an obsolete emergency recovery of a site build.

I had changed this when updating and loading the site live.

I'm not sure where it is pulling it up from or how to change it.

I've attached a screenshot.

The name I need to change is "RESCUEmost recent"

I'll try to answer each group of questions as best I can, but if you have any other questions, just let us know:

1/ I ran Auto Tune
I appeared to make sense and all seemed good.
I do not have an App yet but that part appears understandable for later.

You don't have to have a Facebook App setup unless you want to allow user authentication or any of the other features that require Facebook authentication, like Channels or Open Graph Actions. It sounds like you're ok here.

2/ Basic Info appears OK
I can't seem to find Twitter API Secret in my files and Twitter process gets complicated tells me I already exist.
I got the APIs in 2014 . I hope they are not out of date.
Other than the Twitter Secret Key this appears OK.

Twitter Applications don't get too old. You will need to find your API key and secret if you want to use Twitter, or create a new set of keys. For more information on creating or even finding your existing keys, see our Twitter application setup guide .

3/ Site Check - All good. Appears OK

Great!

4/ Error Check failed.
I temporarily disabled htaccess block (site is unfinished) but got Error:

Error: Could not fetch page. Server returned:
Error Code: 403 - Forbidden. Is a firewall enabled?

I disabled firewall but it failed again. Same error.

I'm not sure here. You'd need to leave the page un-restricted for us to take a look. You may also want to try to run your page through the tools below to see if they see a 403 error. If so, it means there's definitely something blocking some requests to your site:
tools.seobook.com/server-header-checker/
www.webconfs.com/http-header-check.php
urivalet.com/
httpstatus.io/

5/ Buttons used on articles :
• Tweet - Appears to work but no confirmation
• G+1 Renders a triangle with a ! which when clicked goes here:
support.google.com/plus/answer/ … B&rd=2

All of the social networks need to be able to see and scan the contents of your page to share it. You'll need to disable the htaccess restriction and then start testing. It may take a few days after you've disabled htaccess for the social sharing buttons to work though as they will cache the 401 errors.

6/ I activated JFBC Social Share, I'm not sure what it does. Orif there is anything more for me to do here.

The Social Share is a simple module for adding the social sharing buttons to your page. You can add them in a module position or have them float like in the bottom right corner of this site.

7/ Buttons now appear in the SCLog In pop up.
Attempted Login with twitter says: The requested page can't be found.
Attempted Login with G1 says: 401. That’s an error. Error: invalid_client The OAuth client was not found.Request Details That’s all we know.

For Twitter, if you don't have the right API/Key setup, it won't work. You'll need to fix that first.
For Google, please make sure you've followed our Google Setup Guide fully. It sounds like an API or secret key may not be setup or was not copied to JFBConnect correctly.

Login with Facebook went to Easy Social Registration:
So;
In SC> Configuration>User, I set all User settings to 'yes'
Facebook button then effected a smooth login.

But Twitter and G1 did not.

How can I get the Twitter and G1 buttons to effect a login (or remove them from the SCLogin pop up field?)

I think the above info about Google and Twitter should help you get those working. If you still have issues though, we'll help however we can.

Thanks,
Alex

I need to change it from what appears "RESCUEmost recent" (an old dev site name) to a suitable welcome reflecting my site.
I've reattached the screenshot.
I'm can't find it on the local vs to change it.
Not sure whether its a big or a small problem.
Not sure if the screen shot loaded OK.

There was no screenshot attached. Please make sure you use the green arrow after you upload a picture to insert it into the post.

Can you tell me if you have the same issue when you register a new user using the standard Joomla registration page? If so, that means it's not something in JFBConnect that is causing the issue but a configuration setting in Joomla itself. I'm not sure which one it would be though, but you may have a language file setup with an old name.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I just registered a new user with Easy Social which is the default registration for my site and identical issue happens.
I was thinking the same thing re. it being a configuration setting & I'm setting up a test site in case I missed something in Akeeba set up but I can't seem to find it using searches.
I did a search of language files as well and it did not come up.
It must be in the Joomla site as that's the name I gave to a close shave rescue job during development.
Where it may have lodged itself, for now, is anybody's guess.
I'll stay on this tack however and dissect the site if I have to.

Many thanks!

Nev

My best guess for that is in the Global Configuration -> System area, there is an option for "From Email" and "From Name". Make sure those are setup how you want them to be. Beyond that, I'm not sure what would be setting those values for you.

I hope that helps,
Alex
