I've just purchased JFBConnect after e-mail correspondance with Alex A confirming that it'll do what I need. I need to display feeds from some 10 facebook pages owned by some 10 facebook users. My understanding is that I create the relevant facebook users and then I can create a channel in JFBConnect taking feeds from the relevant pages.

But how do I get the facebook users created? From the last step in your initial guide I gather that the trick is to use SCLogin. But when I display SCLogin on a page it just offers me a basic login screen, which takes my Joomla user login. I don't see any obvious setting to change the behaviour of SCLogin. How do I get the facebook users into JFBConnect?

To avoid confusion, I just need this set up to work with the 10 pages and then I'll remove SCLogin and no one else is supposed to login on this site after the initial setup, I just need JFBConnect to display the feeds in a channel.

Yes, we would recommend using SCLogin to connect the Facebook users. It sounds like you've already gone through the configuration process to setup Facebook already. Therefore, if there are no social login buttons showing, please verify that the SCLogin > Social Button Settings > 'Show Social Login Button(s)' option is set to Show. Also, I'd suggest keeping the 'Providers' section blank or set to "facebook". Please verify these options and let us know if you continue to have issues.

Yes, you're correct that as soon as you map the users, then you can disable the login module and then follow the channel setup guides to set up the channels and the SCSocialStream module to pull in the streams.

Thanks for the reply Melissa. I now see that I had not set up the facebook app earlier (I'm new to JFBConnect and social integration...). This is done now, and the AutoTune has finished and apparently facebook is set up in JFBConnect.
BUT, I still only get a basic joomla login in SCLogin - I have verified the settings you mentioned and they're both correct ("show" social login buttons and I've tried both blank and "facebook" in Providers with no change.
Is there maybe a delay to the facebook app creation so I would have to wait some hours/days before it would work after creating the facebook app?

I just went to the site that you've run Autotune on. All I can see is the 'Offline' page. That page does not use the SCLogin module and instead has a standard Joomla credentials module only.

Are you testing when you go 'Online' temporarily? If not, that's likely the issue and you aren't really seeing the SClogin module at all.

I hope that helps, but if not, or you need more assistance, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex

Thanks for making the effort to check the site, but it's offline on purpose as it's in development. I have now put it online (and of course I do this when I try to get JFKConnect to work) if you want to verify what I see.

It looks to be offline again. If you'd like us to test, please private message the admin credentials so that we can set the site online to see the missing button.

The only other suggestion I have that Melissa didn't mention is to ensure that the JFBCSystem plugin (and User and Authentication) plugins are enabled. Without those, social authentication won't work at all.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex

The site was online - it's just very barebone still, so you may have thought it was the offline page. Never mind, I got it working by enabling the System, User and Authentication plugins - not sure why AutoTune didn't enable them and I don't recall seeing anywhere that it is necessary to enable these.

So I managed to get a facebook user created in the Joomla user db through the SCLogin. But when I then try to create a channel, I get a message that the user has not granted "manage_pages" permission and that the user should login at the front end. I've tried this (login at frontend) but don't get asked about any permissions - is this a permission I need to set in facebook?

I got it working now. After getting the "manage_pages" error, I'm supposed to save the channel anyway, then login at the front-end and then return to the channel and save it again. Not obvious, but it works (and I found the answer in another thread on this support forum (www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...age_pages-permission)).
