Hi,

I noticed that I am able to allow my users to link their easysocial profiles to their twitter, facebook, etc, and I've also figured out how to connect my website's facebook page and twitter account to created channels, but how do I allow my community to auto post their content from my site to their linked social media profiles and to show their stream data on my site? From everything that I've read, and what I've been able to successfully accomplish, it seems as if the only actual integration is for my own websites fb page and twitter account. If that's the case, what actual integrations are their for my community after they link their social media accounts to their easysocial accounts?

Thanks.

What you describe is a lot of the integration we support from the user end. Many of the features we have are targeted toward an easier registration and login process for your users and an easier administration role for you, the owner.

The channels feature makes it easy for you to push any content from your site quickly to each of the social networks you've configured a channel for. This also lets you easily show your social network feeds in a highly customizable view so that your visitors can see your feeds all in one place.

From a user perspective, the easier registration process which imports their data automatically is the benefit. There's also the social widgets we offer for sharing / liking content for your users to engage with which can be automatically added to content, set to 'float' on the page (like the bottom of this site) or added anywhere else with our Easy-Tags, like {JFBCLike}.

For pushing content back to the social network, the main avenue we have for that is Open Graph Actions, which let you (the admin) configure actions on your site (reading an article, voting for content, etc) to automatically be pushed to the user's Facebook Timeline. While we have an OG plugin for EasySocial, we don't currently have any actions defined for it. We do have actions for EasyBlog defined, if you use that, for rating or commenting on a post.

There's also ~50 social widgets for things like showing instagram photos, Facebook comment boxes, embedding Twitter posts, etc.

I hope that helps explain a bit more. There's a lot of different areas of social integration that JFBConnect performs. There's always more to do though, so if there's something missing or that you need, let us know and we can tell you how or add it to our investigation list for a future release.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi,

Thank you for your response. So just to be clear, my users can not auto post content from my site to their instagram, facebook, twitter, etc. Once they link all of their social media accounts to their profile on my site, what exactly can they do as the integration? Easysocial already has sharing built in via button links but I was hoping that once users linked their instagram, facebook, twitter, etc that they would then have the option to auto post and auto share content to their other sites. If not, does this mean that the only real benefit to my users is the ability to register and log in?

Thanks.

In your situation, the main advantage for your users is the one-click registration experience so that they can register and be logged in within seconds with their avatar and profile data filled out. That's in contrast to the multi-page registration flow with selecting usernames, passwords, verifying accounts and other pitfalls which lead to falloff to user signups overall.

There are plenty of other features, like the social sharing buttons that can be added easily to *any* content, not just your EasySocial pages.

Again, JFBConnect has a ton of features. Many features are user-directed: easy registration and login, sending Facebook invitations to a user's friends, adding social sharing features, showing your social network feeds to your users, Open Graph Actions, etc.

Many other features are meant to reduce administrative burdens and improve marketing messaging: social network feed displays, posting your content to multiple networks, Facebook Page Tabs / Canvas areas, Open Graph tag management, etc.

The automatic posting of content from your users to their own accounts is more difficult to develop and do so in a way that doesn't bug your visitors (by over-posting), violate each social networks Terms of Service (each of which have their own rules on posting on a user's behalf), and integrate within EasySocial (and other Joomla extensions).

Again though, if there's something missing or that you need, let us know and we can tell you how or add it to our investigation list for a future release. Details on exactly how you'd envision the feature to work would help us understand what you;re looking for.

Thanks,
Alex

Awesome response sir. Thank you for the clarification.

Off topic, I have another couple of questions.

1. My twitter counter for articles isn't working. It always stays at 0.

2. Is there any chance you could share the styling codes for your social share bar that you are using on this site? I really like how it is fixed to the bottom.

Thanks.

1. My twitter counter for articles isn't working. It always stays at 0.

I see a Tweet count of 2 for this page now. How many are you showing? Twitter doesn't update the count immediately. It can sometimes take a few minutes to a few hours, especially for the first tweets on a page. They do that to make sure the Tweets are real and the content/site is valid (not malicious). There's nothing we can do to speed the counter up.

2. Is there any chance you could share the styling codes for your social share bar that you are using on this site? I really like how it is fixed to the bottom.

We're using our JFBCSocialShare module in the bottom corner of the screen. It's configured to 'Float' and the "Top" and "Right" values are set to 3000 so it sticks to the bottom right corner.

I hope that helps, but if you have any questions, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi,

My tweets do not show up and my Facebook likes are being cloned. What I mean by this is that if someone likes one of my need articles, the counter for every article updates to show the same amount of likes.

All social sharing features are based on the URL of the content being shared. The social networks behave just like users and try to fetch the HTML from the page to 'see' what the page is about (title, description, image, etc).

The page you linked to, however, isn't publicly accessible. That means that when Facebook tries to navigate to the page, just like I just tried to do, I was redirected to the login page. That means that the social networks all think that the Login page is the correct page that should be shared. That's why Twitter likely isn't showing anything (there isn't much there) and Facebook is incrementing all the counters (all the articles point to the Login page in Facebook's eyes).

I hope that helps explain. If you're using sharing features, you'll want to start looking into making your content public.

Thanks,
Alex

OK, I think that that did it.

One final question for now, how can my users import their profile picture and profile banner when they sign up using a social account? The built in facebook registration that comes with easysocial imports this stuff but unfortunately it does not support twitter and instagram which is why I purchased jfbconnect. The registration from a social account is working brilliantly but it appears that the users profile images are not being imported. Any advice?

Thanks.
