I have my sourcecoast id and my facebook id's installed and when I try to autotune I am getting this Error
"getAuthorization - Error: Could not communicate with SourceCoast.com to fetch up-to-date information." I am not sure where to go to fix this. Can you lead me to a solution? The site is www.Roundtable.media

That error usually indicates one of the following:
* Your server is not allowing outgoing connections. You must be able to connect to other servers to use Autotune or to perform any sort of social authentication
* Your server is not configured to make outgoing SSL connections. SourceCoast and each social network encrypt the data sent to ensure maximum privacy
* You have a firewall or something else that's preventing communication to sourcecoast.com

I can't narrow down which issue it is, but hopefully that helps you (or your host) narrow down the cause.

If you need any further assistance, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the reply. We do not have a firewall in place to my knowledge. I will check with Hostgator to confirm

Can you clarify this statement? What sort of detail can you provide to help narrow this down? We have SSL installed, but are there some server settings that can be changed? What are they?

I can find no SSL options that would prohibit outgoing connections. Can you explain what you mean?

Your server needs to be able to make a connection to other servers. The best way to verify this is to contact your hosting provider or to run the command below in the command prompt of your server:
curl https://www.sourcecoast.com
That should load the HTML from our home page. If you get an error, that means your server can't contact other servers.

This can mean a huge list of things, including cURL not being built with SSL support, a firewall, invalid SSL root certificates or other issues that would prevent making secure connections. Unfortunately, every server is different, so I can't give you a one-size-fits all answer.. and server support isn't something we are experts at. Hopefully Hostgator can use this to help narrow things down as well.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the reply. so far no response from Hostgator. Can you recommend other hosts that this does work with painlessly? I have found three separate firewalls at this point. One seems basic to the server and is disabled. My access is through parallels, which gives me a lot of access to the actual server files. I can see a console and access to SSH but am unsure if this is where I would get access to try "curl sourcecoast.com" Probably, but I am getting a Java security warning in Firefox, so I have not tried. Second firewall in in cPanel-- ModSecurity, it is enabled, but I have turned it off to do testing. The third firewall is in Akeeba Admintools, and it is disabled as well.

The curl settings visible through Joomla System information do not show the https protocol enabled. The SSL cert is just installed and seems to be working as far as I can tell.

Many users of JFBConnect use Hostgator. We even have a development site based on Hostgator, so outgoing communication should work.

If you'd like us to get into your site to investigate further, please feel free to Private Message me admin credentials. We'll gladly look to see what's going wrong and how we can help. To PM me, just click the mail icon under my name to the left.

Thanks,
Alex
