Request fail was created by chris011972
In auto tune I keep getting 406 error and all my request fail. I can't figure this out. I have a ssl, check with hostgator for any mod sec rules, and poured through the forum.

The exact response that is coming back from your server when our automated tool tries to fetch it is:

Not Acceptable!
An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.

I'm not sure why Mod_Security is blocking our request, but that's the cause. You'll need to contact your hosting company to have them relax the rule.

Sorry I can't give more guidance on what to do as this is a server-side issue and not something we can fix on our end. I hope that helps get you started though.

Thanks,
Alex

I haven't got that error. I stated that I checked for it. My error is unknown as shown in the images.

That *is* the error message that's being received. We don't display the full error message as it can be random. However, we control the Autotune tool and can see the exact message that your server is returning, even if you don't. The message I posted above is it.

We can't do anything further. I'd recommend contacting your hosting company and letting them know the exact time that an Autotune check was run. Then, they can use the server logs to determine the reason for the failure.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Yes, its from your site. When we enable debug mode (a setting only for us), the following is what displays:
File Attachment:

That has the exact server time (Tue, 14 Jul 2015 02:37:29 GMT), response code (406) and even HTTP software (nginx/1.8.0) that is returned. With that, you should definitely be able to find the resulting response in the access logs of the server, even if you can't find the cause in mod_security.

I also tested your site on a few different online automated tools. Most passed (which is great), except for this one, which also gives a 406:
www.internetmarketingninjas.com/header-checker/
That site is completely unaffiliated with us, so it's just confirmation that your server is responding incorrectly *sometimes* to automated tools.

With all that said, I just looked at the HTML on your site just like Autotune would. I apologize for not doing this sooner. The results that Autotune would have come up with, since it just reads the HTML on your page as well, is:
* Debug mode is enabled in JFBConnect.
There's no other issues that Autotune would have found. Everything seems correct on your site.

While you're free to keep trying to get Autotune working, I'd suggest skipping it for now since everything is good. If you're running into any functional issues on your site, please let us know what those are and we'll gladly help start diagnosing and fixing any real problems you're having.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you, yes, when I send a Facebook request to my own wall it fails.
At this point I've spent 4 days combing through your docs and support forum. I've tried the 2 most popular shared hosting providers. I have brought 2 ssl cert. I just want my customers to log in and your app post to their walls that "they logged in with my app". Can your component handle that? and if so, Could you please provide the steps. Thank you in advance

You mention 2 separate things:

Thank you, yes, when I send a Facebook request to my own wall it fails.

A "Request" according to Facebook, is like an invitation. Are you trying to let your users send invitations to their friends telling them to visit the site? If so, your Application must also be in the "Games" category in Facebook (as per a new requirement from Facebook as of May, 2015).

. I just want my customers to log in and your app post to their walls that "they logged in with my app".

This is just a post to your wall. While JFBConnect can post to a user's wall on their behalf, what you're looking for above is not something JFBConnect does. In 2013, Facebook made it against their App Terms of Service to post "I just logged into xyz" type feed updates on behalf of the user. The content was too light and highly abused. Until that time, we did support such a feature, but it's been long gone. Using it now can lead to Facebook banning your application so it can't be used by anyone.

Our integration into extensions like JomSocial allow a user's feed post within JomSocial to also be automatically pushed to their Timeline. You can also easily (with a few lines of code) add posts to other extensions or custom software if you'd like.

JFBConnect also supports Open Graph Actions, which can automatically post activity to a user's Activity Feed, like "I read an article on xyz" or "I just cooked a recipe I saw on xyz".

Regarding SSL, the *only* features that require it are:
* Facebook Canvas integration - where your site is shown within Facebook.com, like:
apps.facebook.com/joomla-extensions/
* Facebook Page Tab Integration - where your site is shown within a Facebook Page, like:
www.facebook.com/SourceCoast/app_116488908376294
* Facebook Requests - As noted above
All other features - authentication, social buttons, Open Graph tags and Actions, and plenty more I'm forgetting, do not require an SSL certificate.

I hope that helps,
Alex

No problem. I do apologize our Autotune tool had issues on your site. I'm glad that I was able to evaluate your page though and, hopefully, answer the questions you were looking for.

If you need anything else, just let us know and we'll help however can.

Thanks,
Alex
