Hi,
I want an image and description tag on a specific parent page which has no content at all, it’s a parent menu page (e.g domain/nature-articles.html).
I type:
{SCOpenGraph image=http://mysite.com/images/ogimages/articles/nature.jpg}
{SCOpenGraph description=Articles about Nature!!! etc}
When I share that URL on Facebook it works fine and is what I want.

But when I share the child page URLs (which contain an image and meta description) facebook does show the correct og image but the wrong og description (the one from the parent page). I use Facebook debug tool for this many times.
Why is the parent description getting picked over the child description when i'm sharing a child URL? And why the same is not happening with images, they are picked fine.
Basically i share a child URL which shows the correct content image but with the parent description. :-(

What am I doing wrong?

Thx

The og:description tag shouldn't be used on any pages that don't have that tag. If you're seeing that, then the {SCOpenGraph description=...} tag is showing on the page for some reason.

If the tags aren't showing, then it means that JFBConnect is simply using the meta description tag for the page or the intro content. Make sure that that is correct.

Also, the Social Toolbar in JFBConnect (the floating bar in the bottom right that admins see) has a "Social Meta" button. That will show you exactly where each tag that JFBConnect is setting is coming from.

Finally, if the Social Meta is saying that an Easy Tag is being used on the page, you can disable the JFBCSystem plugin. Then, you should see the raw {SCOpenGraph ...} tags on your pages. Check the parent and child pages to see if they are showing there and where to determine what may need to be edited.

I hope that helps,
Alex

I apologize for the delayed response. I'm not sure how I missed your PM, but I just had a chance to look at it. Unfortunately, you tried to upload a very large-dimensioned image. Our forum software shrunk it down to 377x1200. That's still pretty big, but I'm assuming the original was much, much larger as I can't read any of the text to understand what's actually happening.

I did receive your admin credentials, so I can check that area. Can you send me either:
a) Chopped up images with the details you sent
b) A link to the image on your server so that I can see the whole thing
c) Information on the specific URLs to test with (this will help even with the images)
d) Any other information you can.

Sorry again for the delay, but I'll gladly help investigate to get things going right for you.

Thanks,
Alex
