At accordwithnature.com i am having trouble getting the modal button to fit int the header and styled. I have a header position c for it but when i do put it in it is too big and distorts the header.

We have the option to use just text links for the modal popup. You can also hide the Register button altogether. With that, you just have a "Login" button that will show the popup (and has it's own register button).

If that isn't working for you, please configure it on your page so that we can see what's happening and what you'd like it to look like. Then, we'll help however we can.

Thanks,
Alex

haha i was searching for help and this thread was the first that came up. I'm still having trouble.... often my cache doesn't clear but i got the only text modal button but now when i click it there is no response, at all.

i have two requests therefore and enclosed an image to show.

For one I would like the login button or text. my original estimation that the button was enlarging the header may have been wrong and it may be a module position problem. I am not necessarily asking you to take the time to make me a new module position but adding just the text as you will see in the image enlarges my header space. in fact header-c seems completely odd and i'm not sure why it is that way. If you cannot easily align it for me (i have only just begun how to create module positions) either as part of the actual menu so that the modal text link is listed as if a menu item, then maybe just making the link work will suffice. The placement in menu should that be convenient for you would would be directly next to what currently reads inAwN at the end of the line. I only included header c in the first place when i was trying to cram the login up there.

Ultimately though my problem is the seemingly malfunctioning button....

I know its off topic but i also notice that on the social share component i cannot get it to bottom right. it is sticking at bottom center... certainly not the worst thing in the world but i would like the option.I have tried several numbers and currently it sits at 5000 which i figured would float it right.

on this page the modal button seems to be working

accordwithnature.com/awnly-universe/categories/Page-1

one difference i have noticed is that on this page the header is no longer touching the top of the website... a problem i thought i had solved by a override in my custom override folder. perhaps there is some wrapping on the site inhibiting the modal button, if not just simply that override i used which prevented jomsocial from detaching my header from the top of the scree?

Sorry for the delayed response to this.

I just went to your home page and the page you said works and did some tests. On both pages, the Login button loads the modal popup. Each popup does look a little different. I'm not seeing a case where the button doesn't work at all, like you mention. With that said, on the Categories page, I see the following Javascript error:

Uncaught TypeError: d.preventDefault is not a function bootstrap.min.js

I don't know what extension is causing that error to be thrown, but any Javascript errors can prevent further Javascript from executing, which may be part of your issues. I'd recommend turning off optimizations and minimizations to help you narrow down Javascript errors and problems you're running into.

For the look of your module positions, there isn't much we can do. Every template is different, and we don't know how they're supposed to work or how to tweak each one. It's something that's best asked to your template provider.

As you can see I am getting the wrapping from fb-root it appears...

I'm not sure what you mean here. The fb-root tag is a requirement from Facebook. JFBConnect automatically inserts it into the page for proper functionality. Looking at the raw HTML on your site, the tag looks correct. Looking using the developer tools, for me, only shows one fb-root. I'm not sure why your images shows two.

I hope that helps with what we see, but if there's anything more you can let us know about issues you're running into, we'll gladly help however we can.

Thanks,
Alex

thanks for your reply

I don't know what happened but last night the button started working again. Perhaps it was a caching issue, hard to say. Of course that bothers me because i like to know why things work and don't but im not gonna fix it if it isn't broken!

i listed the fb-root tag because as i tried to troubleshoot my problem i found that deleting fb-root seemed to fix the header problem,

Definitely strange when things start working without reason. While developing, we always recommend disabling any caching or optimization in both the Joomla Global Configuration area, any 3rd party extension as well as JFBConnect's Configuration area. Then, once things get going, clear the Joomla caches and re-enable caching to test again.

Either way, glad things are going. If you need anything else from us, you know where we'll be :)

Thanks,
Alex

yea caching has been a problem for me for a while. Originally a developer recommended i turn it off... and i did and yet my website or template seems to cache anyway. oh well no one ever said it would be easy!

Caching can be enabled in multiple areas of the site. For instance, even JFBConnect has it's own caching so that repeated requests don't need to be made to each social networks servers. It provides a drastic speed improvement when enabled. JFBConnect does not use the global setting in the Joomla Global Configuration area though, so even if it's disabled in Joomla, our caching will still work. Otherwise, when users validly want to disable Joomla's standard caching, JFBConnect would be a performance bottleneck.

The main point is that you'll want to look for caching options in both the Joomla Global Config area, your template, and other extensions that may use caching for performance reasons.

I hope that helps, but as always, if there's anything we can help with, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex
