I bought JFBConnect on the suggestion of StackIdeas, to allow people to register for my site with their Facebook and Google accounts. I'm building the new site on a test.mysite.com subdomain, and using EasySocial to manage site users. I have 2 questions/problems about JFBConnect at this time:

1--when I try to register with Facebook, the username that appears on my site looks like this: fb_5461467698741985. How do I allow someone to register with Facebook and choose a username?

2--I'm having the same issue registering with Google, the username that appears looks like: g_16461467764976797.

Thanks

In the JFBConnect backend > Configuration > General tab, you will need to configure the 'Auto Username Prefix' option to set it to something more meaningful, like first.last or firlas. Additionally, if you have 'Enable Automatic Registration' set to No and 'Username Field on Registration' option set to "Leave Blank" or "Generate and Show", the user will be able to edit the username value in our login/registration view. If automatic registration is enabled, the username will not be editable.

Changing the above settings should be all that you need to update to fix your issue for both Facebook and Google (or any of the other social networks), so let us know if you continue to run into problems.

That seems too easy! (I'm a newbie, thank you for being gentle...) Thanks Mel!

ETA....the username issue appears to have been resolved. New questions:
1--it looks like I'm getting Joomla default registration emails with G+ and FB users, not the EasySocial confirmation that everyone else gets.
2--I have multiple profile types set up during EasySocial registration, is there any way of integrating those into the G+ and FB registration?

If you want the same email confirmations and to be able to pick the EasySocial profile type, then you'll want to set the 'Registration Component' option in the JFBConnect general config area to EasySocial. This way you'll go through the same registration flow as all of your other users.

In addition, you'll probably also want to enable our 'Social Profiles - EasySocial' plugin to set up profile data/avatars to import into your EasySocial profile. After 1) enabling the plugin 2) configuring it in JFBConnect > Profiles area and 3) setting the Registration Component to EasySocial, the data will be populated into the EasySocial registration form and editable by the user.

I hope this helps answer your question and get you closer to the behavior you're looking for, but let me know if you need further help.
