i just got my membership, so lets test out this legendary support offered.

1. For the FB app setup, do i use our existing app or create a new one?

2. we have a joomla install in a subdirectory of the main domain (with another J Install). Will be merging them soon.
www.ehcanadatravel.com/saskatchewan/

setting the main domain app, which uses www.ehcanadatravel.com/
JFB recommends I use www.ehcanadatravel.com/saskatchewan/ for the site url.

so should i create one for the subdirectory, or?

3. Can you point me to instruction on setting up with jomsocial so likes, posts, etc are automatically posted on social media networks?

4. Can you point me to instruction on setting up jomsocial to pull facebook and twitter feeds from the members account?

Many thanks!
Colin

First, I'm glad to hear we're legendary. Hopefully we can live up to our expectations :)

1) If you already have an app, we'd recommend using it. Facebook generates User IDs and other information based on the Application ID. So, if you switch that application ID, some 'old' information from the old app may not be carried forward. If there's a reason you'd prefer to create a new app, just let us know and we may have different advice.

2) The JFBConnect recommendation is just that, a recommendation. Really, the sub-directory doesn't matter at all in your case. I'd strip that off and save the settings without it. You should be able to test just fine in the sub-directory and shouldn't have any issues when you merge into the root directory.

3) I'm not sure specifically what you're looking to do here.. The Facebook Like button will automatically post to the user's Facebook Timeline, regardless of whether they are in JomSocial or not. For other things, like Uploading a Photo or Joining a Group (in JomSocial), what you're looking for is Open Graph Actions. Those can post 'activity' that a user takes on your site (unrelated to Facebook) back to their Activity Log on Facebook which can show up in their Timeline, friend activity ticker and other places. For more information on Open Graph Actions, see:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/open-graph/actions/

4) To do that, you should just have to:
* Enable the Social Profiles - JomSocial plugin
* In the JFBConnect -> Profiles -> JomSocial area, enable the "Push status to social networks" setting... or the "Pull status from social networks". I'm not sure which direction you mean there.
Just to clarify though, JFBConnect will only pull the last status update from a user's social network. We don't pull their whole feed down and store it on your site.

I hope that helps, but if you have any other questions, just let us know!

Alex

Excellent Alex! So far so good!

Next question is we are using jomsocial, for business members, and travelers...
Is there any ability or option to tie the business members into their facebook business page as opposed to personal facebook profile. Grab business heading, avatar etc?

Is it possible to only push and pull latest posts etc, as opposed to profile data?

We also use SobiPro for our business directory/travel guide and parks/trails listings. Is it just a matter of adding open graph tags to the template to integrate into JFB?

I now see there are a few posts about SP. I will try to find info about my issues before contacting you. After all we do not want to waste anybodies time... :D

I could not find much information on SP and JFB. I did see in 2012 you where 'looking into' integration ...did that go anywhere?

Can I create a custom 'object' for it or?

What are the best times to get support?
I am located on the West Coast of Canada, and will stay up all night to get things done if it means support is available.

Sorry I missed your new questions above.

Is there any ability or option to tie the business members into their facebook business page as opposed to personal facebook profile. Grab business heading, avatar etc?

No. Authentication only works for 'users'. Pages can't authenticate to sites or Like content. It would open up a big possibility for abuse to allow Pages to do that since anyone can create unlimited Pages, which means authentication could be faked (not tied specifically to a user) and Like counts could be inflated drastically.

Is it possible to only push and pull latest posts etc, as opposed to profile data?

Not sure what you mean here, but I'm assuming you're talking about Pages still, in which case, no, it's not possible. You can only pull information about a user profile, not a Page, which would include the personal profile information or their last status update into JomSocial.

We also use SobiPro for our business directory/travel guide and parks/trails listings. Is it just a matter of adding open graph tags to the template to integrate into JFB?

That should be all there is. We don't have specific integration for SobiPro, but the only integration we would provide is Open Graph Action support where a review or something could be automatically posted back to a user's Timeline. Beyond that, you can add our social buttons to their template files if you want and do different types of integration however you want. JFBConnect is meant to be very flexible to work with basically any extension.. but it's just not an automatic addition of features since every site is different.

Can I create a custom 'object' for it or?

You can create custom objects for your SobiPro pages if you want to hard-code some values across a whole category (like title, image, type or something else). You can also, in each listing, add custom Open Graph tags for just that content, like:
{SCOpenGraph title=Best title for page}
{SCOpenGraph image=http://site.com/my-page.jpg}

I hope that helps and sorry again for the delay. We're located on the east coast of US and generally respond to posts between about 8am - 11pm EST.

Thanks,
Alex
