destination link is not reached if the user is not logged in

If you have the "New User Redirection" or "Returning User Redirection" options set to a specific page, the user will always be brought to those pages. If you have it set to "Same Page", then JFBConnect will detect if there's another page that may have directed to the user to the login/register page and use that instead.

You can check this behavior from this redirection by checking that the URL has a return=xyz parameter in it. If not, it's possible some other extension is stripping that value, which would be a problem. If it's there, when the "Same Page" value is set, you should go to the right destination or you can try to login using standard Joomla credentials which should work as well.

The only real solutions I'd recommend are:
a) Setting the redirection values to "Same Page", or
b) Setting the invitations to redirect to a publicly available page so that all users will be able to visit it after they accept the invite without having to login first.
