JFBConnect works with the standard Joomla reCaptcha. K2's implementation of reCaptcha is hard-coded to check every time a new user is saved *and* that they tried to register from the Joomla registration page, which is incorrect behavior. In the case of JFBConnect, no code was ever displayed to the user, but K2 still tries to check if the user entered the right value.
Joomla's captcha properly checks the code *only* if the code was actually displayed to the user.
I'd recommend disabling the K2 captcha during registration. There's no way we can work around this issue. If you need K2's captcha, you'll need to contact them for a solution.
I hope that helps,
Alex
