annoying subdomains

I have no idea. Joomla shouldn't generate those URLs by itself. My guess is that you have an SEF extension or something that's generating the incorrect URLs.

Do the links that are created actually work? Where are you seeing these URLs? Are they always in the same extensions links, or somewhere else?

This definitely isn't something with JFBConnect, but I'll gladly give some ideas as to what may be the cause if you have any more information. There's only so much we'd be able to help with though...
