Hello,
I am using login with Jomsocial option with JFBC. When I click on login with Facebook, the language is in English. I want to change it to French. I have tried using fr_FR at various places in the component, but it does not work.
Thanks

It seems like something is broken with Facebook currently. Looking at your site, JFBConnect is properly loading the Facebook Javascript library using the fr_FR locale. That should make the popup appear as you're looking for. For some reason, it's not though.

We'll investigate some more, and look for any open bug reports from Facebook about this. Unfortunately, we don't have any control over the text in that window. Either there is a bug, or Facebook simply doesn't have a French translation for that popup available (unlikely).

One final thing that Facebook could be doing is checking your browser's language. If your default language is English, it may be using the English popup. Please make sure your browser is also set to default to French.

Finally, if you know of any sites where the popup does work in French, please let us know. We'll gladly check out their code to see if there's something we're missing.

I hope that helps, and sorry for the inconvenience,
Alex

Thanks Alex.
I will use a French version of the browser and then report back.

Hi Alex,
Using a browser in the target language did not help. The solution was to set the Primary language in the Facebook app (Facebook app developer page) to French.
So, if someone sets the primary language, that's the language being used regardless of any other setting. It overrides everything else.
The only string left to translate might be from JFBConnect "Select Friends for Sitename Requests". I believe that should comme from JFBC ini files.
Thanks
Luke

The text in that popup is also not from JFBConnect. The only text we/you have control over is the app request description. The rest is controlled by Facebook as well. I've honestly never seen that translated on any site I've tested, but, again, I'd assume that's possible with Facebook somehow. Looking for information on their site though, I couldn't find any good details on what to do.

I'd test, again, with a browser with the language set to French and see if that works. Other than that, I'm not sure what it would be.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Interesting...I thought the string was from JFBConnect. I will look in Facebook and if I am able to change will post for others as well, especially those you are localizing for French, Spanish and other languages.
Thanks,

No, thats not a setting from us. That's completely controlled by Facebook... somehow. Definitely keep us posted on anything you find. I'd love to hear any solutions you come up with.

Best of luck,
Alex
