Im trying to set up a join group action in jomsocial.

I created the action and object on facebook

Then created them on JFBConnect

I got this error in the activity log:

Object at URL 'mywarrington.com/groups/viewgroup/2-test-group' is invalid because the configured 'og:type' of 'warrington:group' is invalid.

I get the following error when trying to create the "I cooked a recipe" from the documentation

(#100) At least one reference object must be specified.

Everything else with JFBConnect works great. This Open Graph has me stumped though.

I'm sure I've something obvious. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks, Simon.

I can now get JFBconnect to automatically post to facebook when I read an article.

Joining groups still comes up with errors as does manually posting to facebook.

I'll get there soon.

Warrington,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, and glad to hear you're making some progress.

I can see the objects you've created at the page below:
graph.facebook.com/schema/og/fb/warringtonian

In there, I see a "recipe" object (at the very bottom). Is that what you're currently trying to work with, or are you still testing with JomSocial groups?

One thing you can do is run your page (the group URL or Recipe object or whatever) through the Facebook URL Debug Tool . That will let you know what Facebook 'sees' about your pages and verify the object is setup properly for that page.

Let me know what you're attempting to setup and I'll gladly help how I can.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex, Im still having problems with join group action. I ran the debug tool and got this error.

Object at URL 'mywarrington.com/groups/viewgroup/2-test-group' is invalid because the configured 'og:type' of 'warringtonian:group' is invalid.

Can you check your Facebook Application and make sure you created a "group" object? As noted above, I see a "recipe" object in the file I linked to.. but no "group". You'll need to create that in the Open Graph area of Facebook.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Ok, the facebook app will not let me create a group object.

It tells me to use product.group.

Ahh.. That makes sense. Facebook has some 'reserved' keywords that can't be used for your own custom objects. Group used to be available, but they may have commandeered it.

The only suggestion I have is to see if there's a pre-made object type available that may work for you, or use something else as your object type, like "discussion", "gathering", etc.

I hope that helps, and sorry for the confusion!

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex, for your help.

Facebook moving the goal posts again.

I'm getting the hang of this open graph stuff now. This plugin has exceeded my expectations. Truly Awesome!

Thanks Again, Simon.

Simon,
Glad to hear we could help clarify, and that you're getting things going. There's definitely a learning curve to some of the more advanced features of JFBConnect. If you have any feedback on how we could improve things (documentation, better interface, more features, etc), please let us know. We're always looking to our users to find out where the 'pain points' are with integration.

Either way, as always, should you need anything else, just let us know. We'll gladly help however we can.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-...ook-integration/7215

Thanks,
Alex
