I am using Joomla 2.5, no JoomSocial or Kunena or Community Builder but I have K2.

If there a way to get these three fields from FB into Joomla please.

I am a new user and will count on your kind help.

Thanks'

There's a few options here. K2 only has a few profile fields that you can use to store data. If you want to store those fields in K2, you could 'map' the country to the description field, the birthday to the "notes" field, etc.

The other option is to store the data in your own custom Database table. We have a Custom DB plugin which is in testing right now which you can use to store profile data in any database table you want.

Let me know if that helps or if there's something specific we can help with, and we'll do what we can.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi

Thanks for your quick reply.

I wanted to use Kunena and then map the fields there but I am hosted at Godaddy which supports only MySQL 5.0 and Kunena needs 5.1 or above. So that went out of the window.

My second option is to use CB but I now understand that even if I install CB I will need to re install your software in order for it to recognize CB so I am leaving that as the last option.

So If I can map to K2 I will be ok but I cannot find the place to do the mapping (please see attachment) is that where it should be? Or I am looking in the wrong place?

The idea of a customer database is also good but I do not know when your software will be ready.

So maybe if you can indicate where I can do the K2 mapping that will be the easiest solution for me.

Thanks again

Ayman,

I wanted to use Kunena and then map the fields there but I am hosted at Godaddy which supports only MySQL 5.0 and Kunena needs 5.1 or above. So that went out of the window.

Wow.. I didn't realize that Kunena required v5.1 or that GoDaddy didn't go above 5.0 (yet). I'd honestly think that Kunena would work on v5.0, but I can't guarantee that. Either way..

My second option is to use CB but I now understand that even if I install CB I will need to re install your software in order for it to recognize CB so I am leaving that as the last option.

Reinstalling or upgrading JFBConnect is meant to be extremely easy. If you just install it using the Joomla installer it will automatically upgrade your version and all of your settings will remain intact. You can also install just the CB plugin if you want to by unzipping the component file and installing the plugin from the /admin/install/packages/socialprofiles directory.

So If I can map to K2 I will be ok but I cannot find the place to do the mapping (please see attachment) is that where it should be? Or I am looking in the wrong place?

There was nothing attached to the post. Please make sure you click the green arrow next to your image to insert it. What should happen is that you enable the Social Profiles - K2 plugin in the plugin manager and then configure the profile import in the JFBConnect -> Profiles area.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Thanks mapping to K2 works great.
By the way are you aware of any tool that exports K2 users into csv?

Ayman,
Glad to hear that loading the data in K2 is working well for you. As for a CSV exporter, I don't know of any for K2 specifically. There are SQL queries you can run on a database to generate a CSV file, but it can take some work to get them right as well as some understandings of the K2 table structure. It may be worth looking into if you're familiar with SQL.

I hope that helps, but if you need anything else, just let us know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Thanks,
Alex
