I installed JFBConnect v5.1.2 Joomla 2.5 yesterday, and I am using Jomsocial registration page for new users, however, the new user receives an email with Username and password, even though it does not redirect the new user to step 2 of the reg form, and instead redirects the user to the Jomsocial frontpage telling them to login. The new user is not recorded in the database and so cannot login neither do they show up in the users list in Joomla or jomsocial. I am also using payplans and JSPT/XIPT with Jomsocial to display and control custom profile fields.

The FB login works fine, just the Jomsocial reg form, and this was working fine before I installed JFBConnect v5.1.2. How can I solve this, as I want new users to register with Jomsocial form as an option to FB and Google+.

With JFBConnect, you must use one of our available registration flows of "Automatic", where the user account is created automatically (no forms) or "Normal" where the user goes through the JFBConnect registration flow and forms. In the Normal registration flow, you can use the JomSocial socialprofile plugin to add JomSocial fields to the JFBConnect registration flow.

There is no way, currently, to use the Facebook or Google+ login button and redirect to the JomSocial registration page. We are working on implementing a new registration path that would let you use an existing registration extension (built-in to Joomla, JomSocial, EasySocial, and others). That's planned to be released with the v5.2 release, along with Twitter authentication, around the beginning of next month.

I hope that helps explain, but if you are using one of our registration flows above and things still aren't working, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

I have configured JFBConnect to use normal registration, integrating Jomsocial socialprofile, which seems to be working fine. The only problem is I want to allocate profile types (which are controlled by XIPT) and these do not display on the registration form, neither can I allocate profile types to new members, as it only registers the default profile type after registration. This means new members have to subscribe a second time through Payplans to correct this problem.

Secondly, members are not sent to the designated login page after account activation. I need to send them to profile edit page on initial login, so they can complete their profile before using their account. Once this is solved, I should be sweet with the JFBConnect registration process.

Right now, we don't have any integration with XIPT. We're working on a new registration flow for JFBConnect v5.2 that will allow you (the admin) to use another registration system, like JomSocial, XIPT or something else. JFBConnect will still be able to import data, but we'll basically step out of the form-based registration flow.

The release is expected for around the beginning of November. We're hoping to engage with the JoomlaXi guys and get a socialprofile plugin developed for the release, or to be available shortly thereafter.

Until then, there won't be a way to select a profile during registration with JFBConnect while using XIPT.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex

Would the new release also solve the problem of members not being sent to the designated login page after account activation, or how do I solve that now?

I look forward to the next release with great anticipation, as this is a much needed solution for signing up new members. Do keep me updated. Thanks.

If your site requires user activation, there is no setting in JFBConnect to control where they go after they do that activation. If you have the "Skip Joomla Activation" setting enabled in JFBConnect, the "New User Redirection" setting should be properly redirecting the user after login. Email activation is performed completely by Joomla, and we don't have any way to alter that process.

If you need anything else, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
