Topic-icon JFBConnect config is not recognizing my SSL Certificate

Hello,

After upgrading to the most recent JFBConnect, the Facebook Application Configuration in the auto tune is giving a message "A valid SSL certificate was not detected on your server". I have a valid certificate and was working before the upgrade. Now my FB Canvas and Tab are not working.

Can you give any insight or tip on what might be the cause?

Thank you,
Pete

Pete,
The problem is that you're likely logged into your admin area at http://www. However, your SSL certificate is only valid for the non-www version of your site.

To fix, login to the admin area at just domain.com and re-run the FB App portion of Autotune. That will check your site properly and should work.

Also, we'd recommend setting up a redirect from the www version of your site to non-www as that is good for search engines and will ensure that no one tries to go to the https://www version of your site (which doesn't work).

I hope that helps,
Alex

Pete,
No problem. It's what we're here for. The new auto-detection of SSL has worked pretty well so far and helped make things even better auto-configured. Sorry you ran into a minor issue in the process.

I would still highly recommend looking into redirecting the www version to non-www as that's good for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is SEO and better usability for your users (in case something is accidentally linking to the https://www. part of your site).

As always though, should you need anything else or have any feedback, just let us know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Hi Alex,

I took your advice and my site is now redirecting to a non-www. It was a great tip and I needed to do it to fix my issue anyway. My only question that I just found is on the De-Authorization Callback URL. It is pointing to a http://www. URL (my old callback before changing the redirect) Thus causing a warning in the auto-tune. Where and how do I change that?

Thanks,
Pete

No problem for the tip, glad we could point it out.

For the Call-back URL, simply hit the "Save Settings" button at the bottom. It will keep all the values as they are, but update the required ones like De-auth callback and migration settings. Those are always updated to the latest recommendation whenever you save (or use the Use Recommended Settings button).

Best of luck,
Alex
