I have been working on a site for a client who uses the JFBC plugin. This pluging works fine on

- desktop browsers
- mobile browsers IF using the browser

However the mobile version of the page has been designed on IOS to work with the 'add to home screen' facility and therefore looks like a native app. However when using the login with facebook there, the screen goes white and nothing happens (there is no successful authentication either)

I suspect this is due to the very speedy popup that comes up as instanced apps does not allow popups as they are totally self contained browser instances

Is there a way of making JFBC authenticate without popups, all just behind the scenes, or have you already a work around for instanced versions on IOS?

Right now, JFBConnect requires the popups for Facebook logins. We are looking into the option of using a different authentication flow which would use redirects instead for just reasons you mention. I'll try to push this up as there may be a very simple change that can be made, but I'd like to test it first before posting it. Give me till the end of the week, and I should be able to get you an answer (either with code, or telling you to wait a little bit for a new release).

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex

I assume your answer is the secondary option, wait for a new release?

Morgan,
Sorry for the delay. We were putting the final touches on v5.1.2 this weekend with a planned release for Wednesday, and that stopped me from investigating further.

Unfortunately, I just had time to do this, and the solution is more difficult than I was hoping. Originally, I was thinking there was simply 1 line of code to update, but there's actually a lot more to it to support the redirection method instead of the popup version. With that said, it is something we're looking to do for the v5.2 release (scheduled for around the end of October). With that release, we'd like to have an option for Facebook logins to either use popups or the redirection option.

I hope that answers your question, even if it's not specifically what you were looking for.

Thanks,
Alex
