Hello Dear Alex,
I see the requests in my app center.

But we want the notifications to be seen at users facebook notification area. None is using the app center.

How can we do that?

That's not possible. Facebook will only display the invite in the Notification area if the user has already approved the app. Requests always go through the App Center area when the user has not approved the app.

You can see more information about this in the Facebook Requests documentation. Specifically:

Requests that are invites (the recipient has not installed the app) do not display the message parameter and are categorized differently in the Apps and Games dashboard. For more information on available parameters see the Request dialog.

That different categorization means that the Request goes to the App Center area.

On Facebook, the "App Center" item in the left bookmark bar will have a bubble with a number next to it indicating that new Requests area available. It's up to the user to click into that section to see the Request.

The behavior for Requests did used to be different where it would show up in the Notifications area, but that was changed by Facebook back in February. Facebook determined that only apps that have been approved by the user should be able to post into the Notifcations drop-down from the menu bar. Please see the bug report on Facebook concerning this issue and their explanation.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex

In our email conversation you informed me:

The module you linked to is actually an older module from our JFBConnect product. That functionality is now a core feature in JFBConnect, called "Requests". It allows your users to send Facebook Requests/invitations to their friends.

And now you say to me:

That's not possible. Facebook will only display the invite in the Notification area if the user has already approved the app. Requests always go through the App Center area when the user has not approved the app.

You did not mentioned anything before my purchase about Requests always go through the App Center area when the user has not approved the app.

Common facebook requests are something like that: www.google.gr/search?q=facebook+requests...r3UfzhCJGu4QSr24CoAg

None of the users knows about facebook app center because they are NOT developers! And I think that they have approved the app.

Please help me find a solution, for example to "push" users aprove the app, and their requests be shown at their friend's facebook request area and NOT IN THE APP CENTER area.

Otherwise, I can not use your component and please refund me money.

Thank you for your reply!

Vaggelis,
In your questions before your purchased, I indicated that Facebook invitations can be sent using the mechanisms that Facebook supports. There is *no* method to send Facebook invitations to users that will show up in the Notifications area you are asking. I never stated that we were able to do this, and answered your question about what we do. I didn't mention the App Center because that's the 'standard' way that invitations are sent and there isn't another way.

In the link you sent to Google images of Facebook Requests, most of those pictures of are friend requests. That is when a user wants to be your friend on Facebook and is different than App Requests/Invitations.

If you see documentation somewhere that says that Application/Website invitations can be sent through the notifications area, we'll gladly look into that feature further and implement something. Until then, it's simply not possible to do what you are asking. It is possible to send Facebook invitations, as I've described above, but I can't control how Facebook displays those invitations.

Fortunately, we do have a 30-day refund policy for just this type of mis-understanding. If you'd like to take advantage of it, please use the Refund Request link at the bottom of every page on this site.

Thanks,
Alex

You mention Google above, but I'm assuming you meant Facebook. As far as I'm aware, there is no method for sending friend-to-friend invitations to users for an app that go to the notification area. Again, if you find documentation or another app that does it differently, and in a way that sticks to Facebook's App policies, we'll gladly investigate.

We'd honestly love it if the Requests went to the notification area as well. From the bug report I posted early from Facebook, that used to be the case. The problem was that the notification area for many users was getting filled with unwanted requests from users, and so the invitation notifications were put into the new area.

Thanks,
Alex
