I have had several people during beta testing say that they do not want our website to automatically post to their Facebook page if they log into our site using Facebook credentials.

I have disabled "Social Discovery" but am not sure this is the correct approach. Two questions:
  1. Exactly what does this configuration option do?
  2. What would be the correct way to ensure that the default action for Facebook logins is to post *nothing* to their Facebook pages?

The below page describes the Social Discovery setting:
developers.facebook.com/docs/guides/canvas/

Facebook shares stories with friends when a user starts using a new app or first installs a new game. These installation discovery stories show up in friends' News Feed and enables users to discovery popular apps their friends are using.

There's more there, but disabling that setting will prevent any "John just started using" posts.

Additionally, make sure that you don't have anything set in the Configuration -> FB Wall Posts area for automatically posting when the user registers or logs into your site.

Beyond that, all actions would be taken on a users behalf, so they'd be the ones to intentionally be posting to their wall (Commenting, Like'ing, etc).

I hope that helps explain, but if not, let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Dave,
No problem. If you need anything else, you know where to find us.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex
