This was a bug with an older version of JFBConnect and the Joomla updater itself. Unfortunately, when you use the updater to move to the latest version, it won't fix the problem when installing the newest release. If you need to fix, you can uninstall the main JFBConnect component and re-install it. That will fix the Joomla updater to properly look for the correct XML. Your settings will all remain, you will just need to re-enable the plugins again.
The JFBConnect component can't be updated through the Joomla installer though. It can only be updated by using the automatic updater built-in to the component that can be used in the JFBConnect admin page or installing the zip file again in the installer.
We do use the Joomla Updater to notify you when those updates are available, and the 'fix' above of uninstalling and re-installing should fix it.
