JFBC not adding users was created by adikav
I have installed JFBC component. I ran the auto tune and everything is showing OK.

When I try to register by clicking on the "Login With Facebook" button, the popup appears, i get asked the permissions and i click ok. It shows a message saying " logging in using facebook credentials" and nothing happens. I have set it to Automatic registration, but no users are being added to community builder.

In facebook, the app is being added to the app list in account settings.

Please advise.

Aditya,
Usually, when that happens, it's because your Facebook Application is in Sandbox mode. Can you go to the Developer Area and make sure the app is not in Sandbox mode?

If that's not it, please check the following:
* Ensure the JFBConnect - Authentication and JFBConnect - User plugins are enabled
* Disable any SEF extensions you have
* Turn off any caching you have enabled (in Global Config or any 3rd party extensions)
* In the Configuration -> Facebook API area, enable the "Display API errors on the front-end" setting
Try again. See if there are any system messages displaying or if things behave differently in any way.

Finally, if that doesn't work, please let us know what other authentication or user plugins you have enabled.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Went through your reply,

Sandbox mode is disabled.

If that's not it, please check the following:
* Ensure the JFBConnect - Authentication and JFBConnect - User plugins are enabled

They are enabled.

* Disable any SEF extensions you have

Not yet implemented SEF.

* Turn off any caching you have enabled (in Global Config or any 3rd party extensions)

Again not implemented yet.

* In the Configuration -> Facebook API area, enable the "Display API errors on the front-end" setting
Try again. See if there are any system messages displaying or if things behave differently in any way.

This did the trick!!! It threw an error "Facebook API Error: API calls from the server require an appsecret_proof argument".

Did a quick google search, and found this : stackoverflow.com/questions/16669250/fac...api-call-after-login

disabled it and everything is working fine now!! Thank you Alex!!

Just a follow up, if i enable SEF and caching sometime in the future, will the components stop working?

Aditya,
Thanks for letting us know about that setting. It was just added on May 21st, and while we've seen it, it *should* be disabled by default. We'll have support for it in the next release (basically allowing you to enable or disable that setting without issues). Until then, please leave it disabled.

Unfortunately, that's a setting that can't be updated through our Autotune tool. We'd definitely prefer if every new setting Facebook adds had the ability to be set remotely, but they don't always oblige. So, until the next release or until they let us set it remotely, don't enable that on your own :)

Thanks again for the feedback, and glad we could help narrow things down. If you need anything else, just let us know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Thanks,
Alex

Oh.. as to:

Just a follow up, if i enable SEF and caching sometime in the future, will the components stop working?

Nope, that shouldn't be a problem. Those settings can simply muddle the issue when you run into problems. Disabling them is a good first debugging step. Caching and SEF are very well supported with JFBConnect and shouldn't cause problems.
