Dear Alex,
I researched a lot to find the right Facebook extension for our Joomla project and we decided to go with the best one.
I used already the Jomsocial Facebook connect and this works fine, i followed your documentation and integrated the button on the registration and the js.landing page. What i now figured out is that JFBC open a complete new registration dialog and moves away from the JS registration.
Here is the
current registration dialog
and the one opened by JFBC
JFBC registration dialog

I know that i can do the cosmetics but before investing a lot of time in redesigning, I have a couple of questions.
1. Multi Profiles JS
We use Multi Profiles in JS and need them for the registration, so user has to select if he is a teacher or a student. Did not find a way to get this into the new registration dialog.
2.) is there a way to have the JS Facebook connect running with JFBC together, so will use the additional plugins from JFBC but stick with the current working Facebook connect?
3.) We need to write additional information during registration, would you do this via a plugin or directly in the registration handler of JFBC?

Thanks for your support

1) Multi-profile
When you've installed the Social Profiles - JomSocial plugin, there is an option in the "Profiles" area of JFBConnect to set the default multi-profile type as well as an option to let the user select it during registration. If you have issues with that, let me know.

2) JomSocial & JFBConnect together
No, unfortunately, you can't run them together. Facebook only wants one extension managing user's, access tokens, and other features. If you have JomSocial's Facebook integration enabled, many of the features in JFBConnect won't be aware when a user is actually logged in through Facebook and, therefore, some features won't work.

3) More registration information
Can you explain this a little more? Are these fields that would be stored in JomSocial, or somewhere else? Our JomSocial plugin should handle the data intended for JomSocial. There's lots of different answers on how to do what you're looking for, but it really depends more on the specifics of what data (input from the user or pulled from Facebook) you want stored and where (3rd party extension, custom database table, etc).

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,
thanks for the detail information, so we go the JFB way and disconnect the JS facebook connect.
After installing the plugin this is exactly what i was searching for, so integration with JS looks good.
My challenge is that we use another component called Guru and during registration if a user selects the profil teacher we need to add a user to a teacher table.

So where is the perfect place to do this, so that we do not loose the future upgrade possibility?

Thanks

If you have a developer, I'd recommend creating a new profile plugin. You can use the 'createUser' function which is called during registration and check for the profile_id that is set. If it is a teacher profile, do whatever you need to do to create the user in Guru.

You could modify the JomSocial social profile plugin, which is a little simpler, but you'd have to make those modifications each time you upgrade.

Hope that helps give you ideas. We can certainly help you understand where and how to make the change once you know what path looks best for you.

Thanks,
Alex

No problem for the support, or the quality of the extension. We've been doing this for more than 4 years now and (think we) know how to treat customers right both before the sale and afterwards. Thank you for subscribing and supporting us!

Should you have any questions about the social profile plugin creation, or otherwise how to do what you're looking for, just let us know.

Finally, we'd look forward to your JED review and greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex
