Hello, i am currently using jfbconnect and jomsocial. I am using Jfbconnect for FB login/register on my homepage. However, Jomsocial also has a "/community" page where user can login/register from there too. 2 Questions: 1) it is confusing for users to see 2 login/register user interface. Can I just use one? 2) JomSocial is claiming that their feature (autopost to user activities on my site to Facebook) is not working because the user wasn't registered using Jomsocial's FCB. This is very confusing. What is your recommendation?
And I will send you a link via private message.
Thanks!

You should only use one extension for Facebook registration. JFBConnect contains just about all of the features that JomSocial's Facebook integration has, and also does a lot more. You should disable JomSocial's Facebook integration to properly use JFBConnect to make sure there are no conflicts.

For information on the best way to integrate JFBConnect into JomSocial, please see our Facebook integration for JomSocial guide.

I hope that helps,
Alex

So where can I download it?

It's in the 'misc' folder of the main zip file you downloaded from SourceCoast. The name of the file is 'plg_community_jfbcjsactivity_j2.5_v5.0.0.zip'.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Great! I found it and installed it. Before this plugin take effect we must enable New User Status or Returning User Status features, right?
But I still have a question about the New User Status or Returning User Status features settings.
There are 3 text boxes.
The first one is Message: Can be fill in any words I want? Such as Welcome....
The second one is URL: I am not sure what URL I need to fill here. Is it my site's URL?
The third one is Picture URL: Also the same question like the second one.

And is the same content to fill in Returning User Status Settings text boxes?

Thanks!

You don't need to enable the New or Returning User Status messages for the Post To Wall feature from JomSocial to work.

To use the Post to Wall feature you should go to the Configuration -> Facebook API tab and enter "publish_stream" into the 'Additional Permission Requests' field. That will make sure the permission to post to a user's wall on their behalf is being requested.

If you want to also use the Post to Wall feature, information on the settings are:
* Yes, you can use any message you want, like "I just joined 'My Site', a great place for learning more about 'stuff'". That would go in the user's wall.
* The URL is usually your home page, but you can use any URL from your site you want.
* The image is the same, generally it should be the full URL to a logo or something noticeable from your site, but you can use whatever image you want.

In general, we don't recommend using the post on registration or login features anymore. Facebook has changed their Application Policies and now require that a user
enter a message themselves (like from the JomSocial activity stream) or have the right to approve the post to wall. The login / return user message doesn't follow those terms.

Hope that helps explain,
Alex

Hi Alex, it still not works.
I followed your instruction to do that. But I still can't post Jomsocial activities status to facebook timeline. For example, I wrote a review, which will be updated on Jomsocial activities status, but not posted on facebook. Could you please help to check with the access credentials I provided before? It really makes me very confused.
Thanks!

The post to wall on status updates only works right now for status updates that a user enters into JomSocial. It doesn't work for all activity that is posted to a user's JomSocial activity stream, as much of that wouldn't make sense to post to a user's Timeline (either it would be spammy with too many updates or not related to other 'general' Facebook topics).

What extension are you using for reviews? We have integration with JReviews, currently, and with that you can create an Open Graph action that will automatically post to a users Timeline.. like "John just reviewed xyz" with a link, description, and image of the page reviewed.

Hope that helps explain,
Alex

OK, I understand now.
For the Open Graph, I already tried to add an action for Jreviews review. But it seems not succeed. I am not sure whether I did it in a correct process. First of all I need to create Subject and Action on my Facebook APP right? It seems very complicated on Facebook App configuration. Could you please provide me a guideline both of the configurations on Facebook App and JFB connect?
By the way, we can only apply Open Graph on reviews, but can't apply on submit listings right?
Thanks!

The Facebook Application process is definitely pretty confusing. They are making it simpler with time, but it's not necessarily 'easy'.

If you haven't already, please make sure you've read our Facebook Open Graph Actions for Joomla configuration guide. That should take you through the steps required.

The guide is for 'reading an aritcle'. You would want to update the action to 'review' (a non built-in Facebook action you'd need to create). You could either use an 'article' object, or something custom, like 'product' or 'listing-item'. Additionally, in the action, you'd want to change the trigger type from "Automatic" to "Manual". That should be all the changes you'd need.

As for JReviews, yes, right now, we only support posting an action on a 'review', not on a new listing. We're hoping to add actions for new listings soon, as well as actions on moderated reviews.

Hope that helps, but please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks,
Alex
