Marco,
We're doing some testing with 2.8.4 right now, but we've done extensive testing with 2.8.3 (and many users use it as well), and we haven't seen or heard of any avatar import issues.

The first thing I'd recommend checking is that your /images/avatars directory is writeable. If not, then JFBConnect won't be able to move the image from the tmp directory there. If that directory is writeable, then make sure that the name mentioned in the error above /tmp/scprofile_xy_pic_tmp.jpg actually exists and that if you open it, it's the proper avatar from Facebook.

Letting us know about the directory and the image will help us narrow down where the problem may be coming from.

Thanks,
Alex

Marco,
We heard about this issue in mid-February originally with the release of JomSocial 2.8.3. Our understanding and all tests indicate that the issue was on JomSocial's side with the very first release of 2.8.3 they put out. They later updated the release (without changing the version number) and we haven't had any other users commenting on the avatar upload issue since.

The original thread about this problem can be found here (the link is to the post with the resolution of the updated 2.8.3 version):
www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...connect-error#p30961

If your directories are writeable, there should be no reason within JFBConnect that we can't copy it. There would appear to be a problem within JomSocial at that point. Just so I understand your upgrade process.. you were on 2.8.2, you went to 2.8.4 and then you downgraded to 2.8.3?

Can you try downgrading back to 2.8.2 to verify that it works again? I don't have any other great ideas, unfortunately.

Thanks,
Alex

That's a pretty poor solution, obviously. You may want to contact JomSocial's support to see if they know of any reasons that avatars wouldn't be copied over properly. Beyond that, make sure you are running JFBConnect v5.0.0 and the Social Profile - JomSocial plugin is v5.0.0 as well. Also, make sure that the Facebook integration in JomSocial is disabled.

The only last suggestion I can make is to check that the name of the file to be created (from the error) in the /images/avatar/ directory doesn't already exist. Or, if it does, that it's permissions are correct too, not just the directory itself.

Hope that helps,
Alex
