Facebook login problem was created by drjjw
Hi Alex,

Using JFB 5 on 2 different Joomla 2.5 sites is producing a blank page on iOS browsers (Chrome more so than Safari), but the blank page is on the m.facebook.com not on my sites. The error is intermittent but occurs more often than not. Desktop browsers produce no errors.

Any ideas here?

I guess I didn't describe this well enough at all. When trying to logimg using the JFB login module and the Facebook limk, a blank tab on m.facebook.com opens. There is no way I can troubleshoot beyond this. Itmisafter all a blank Facebook page not my own.

Jordan,
Very very sorry for the delay in not getting back to this. Originally, I wasn't near an iPad when I saw this post, and then it unfortunately dropped off my radar.

I just tried to go one of your sites with an iPad (don't want to post it here, because I'm not sure if you want it public) and I get a popup that says "An error occurred. Please try again later.". It's a pretty barren page, but not completely blank. Is that what you're seeing?

Strangely enough, after I tried with my iPad, I then tried with a Mac using Chrome. The popup there was the same, "An error occurred...". So, for me, it's not working on big computers or iOS devices.

Can you try logging out of Facebook completely, close your browser, and re-open it. Then, go directly to your website and try to login. It should ask for your email/password credentials.

Let me know what happens for you. One way or another, something strange is happening for us, but different from the strange behavior your seeing.. we'll get to the bottom of it though.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I logged out and retried with mobile Chrome. Same problem.

All seems to work on desktops. I sent you some URLs by PMB.

Jordan,
I just tried again, multiple times, using an iPad. I was using Chrome and Safari on the website you mentioned, and I didn't have any issues and never saw the white screen. Each time, the URL was m.facebook.com..., but it always asked for authentication credentials properly.

I don't have an iPhone handy, so I couldn't test with that. What are you testing with? Ours was an iPad2.

Have you heard of this issue from any of your users? Can you try with a different device? Do you run into the same issue on our demo site (demo.sourcecoast.com)?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Did you try logging in? It is after that when I see the white screen.

Jordan,
No, I hadn't tried logging in. Wasn't sure that was a requirement to make the problem happen.

I just tried again in both Chrome and Safari. In Safari, I couldn't recreate the problem on your site or on our demo site. I tested repeatedly.

In Chrome, however, I could see the issue on your site and on our demo site. Our demo site URL that was failing was a www.facebook.com URL and your site had the m.facebook.com like you mentioned. Doing a search, I could find a bug report in Facebook that describes the mobile Chrome issue pretty clearly:
developers.facebook.com/bugs/134865033332978
The problem there notes the URL I see on the demo site, but the I'm pretty confident the issues would be related.

I'd highly recommend using the "Does this repro describ your issue?" link in that bug report to increase it's priority.

I'm still unsure what/why you're seeing issues in mobile Safari, as we can't recreate those. Hopefully, the Chrome issues will be fixed soon though.

Alex
