Alzander,

Thank you so much for your kindness and patient support.

You guys have a 1st class product... I do stress I'm mad at FB for constantly jerking you around by removing interfaces.

I'm now looking at how J-Linked will compliment my site as I will anticipate the professionals in the Diabetes world will come in more from Linked in than FB.

Thanks again for such a quality product. You got a customer for life (I'll try not to be a big pain in the ___)

Allen,
I understand your frustration with Facebook, but it's a part of life these days. For a website to shine, it's important to integrate with a lot of different websites (FB for login, maybe Disqus for Comments, Google for analytics, etc). Things change, and it's something that you have to work with. Facebook does add, and remove, features regularly. They've become much more stable and forthright about their changes though, excluding this example. Most of the time, the changes make sense and are foretold months in advance, which makes things go much smoother.

On the contrary, LinkedIn is a much more slow moving platform. Things rarely every break, but new exciting features aren't added as regularly either. It's just different. Regarding JLinked, we're very excited about the upcoming 2.0 release. With that version, and JFBConnect v5.0, we're going to be moving to new 'social profile' plugins. Those will be shared by both extensions and will make adding (or tweaking) features much simpler, as well as expanding into other networks.

Anyways, glad this issue is starting to get behind us. I'm excited for when news.reads do post again, in whatever form...

Thanks for your patience,
Alex

2 Quick clarification needed here:

1). The first steps in your OGA Configuration Guide provides a hyperlink to the FB Apps area, and "Then click on the Open Graph menu. You'll be brought to the 'Getting Started' area". We already have apps created and displaying in this area, so I am assuming we need to create a NEW app? Or should we EDIT an existing app and add the OG Actions to it, instead? Looking at the item circled in the attached snip, we're assuming the creation of a new app, similarly named as the one you are showing, right?

2). When testing the app by "simply logging into FB with an Administrator account", does this mean that you must log into the joomla SITE using the SCLogin FB button, or, can you just be logged into FB itself without having to be logged in on the joomla site?

Since the Timeline posts and Activity Log entries are not working, we just want to make sure we understand the directions correctly and our problems are not from incorrect assumptions on our end.
Thanks!

1) No, you want to add the Open Graph objects/actions to the existing app you're using on your site. Basically, a user will 'log in' to your App and then be able to act on the Open Graph Actions you've configured in that same app.

2) You need to be logged into your Joomla site using JFBConnect. So, you'll need to click the Login with Facebook button to get in. You can't post to a user's Timeline unless they've already approved your app (clicked Login with Facebook) and JFBConnect will only post if the user is currently logged into Joomla.

All actions should now be posting in the Activity Log. The news.reads action will not post in the Timeline due to the recent changes. However, other actions will post to the Timeline like Voting for an article, commenting using EasyBlog, joining a JomSocial group, uploading a photo to JomSocial, etc. So, it's just that specific news.reads action that doesn't go to the Timeline right now.

Hope that explains. Should you need any help configuring things, let us know. JFBConnect v5.0 comes out tomorrow. After that, we'll be updating the Open Graph Actions guide (and some other documentation) to clarify recent changes and how to post other types of actions that do fully work.

Best of luck,
Alex
