Hi,

I am getting this error below when I try to create an upload action for Jomsocial Album Image Upload



Not Acceptable


An appropriate representation of the requested resource / could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

That error message, from what we've seen, is usually due to Apache's mod_security settings blocking the action. I'd check the mod_security logs to see if there's any information as to why the request was blocked.

We're not sure what is causing the security violation, and haven't gotten very good information from users as to what the security issue is. If you can find anything in your log, let us know. We'd love to tweak our saving routine to not submit something that is causing the security exception. Until we get more information though, we can't do much as we haven't been able to recreate this issue on any of our development servers.

Hi,

I got in contact with support and had them disable mod_security on my server and that seemed to solve the first issue. However now when I tried to create the upload action I get a :


Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /administrator/index.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I do have RS Firewall installed and Jomsef 4

Not sure what might be causing this....

Ivan,
The error your reporting for the upload sounds the same as the one above. Are you sure mod_security was disabled, or was it just configured differently? I'd try disabling RS Firewall, or any other security extensions, as well to see if that helps fix the issue.

Also, if Open Graph is disabled, does the error go away?

Hi alex,

The issue has been resolved and it was indeed modsecurity causing it. However I manage to set up the action upload which I have already had setup before with 1.5 so the action has already been approved. Previsouly I was executing this action by customizing jomsocial code and had it in a function there. However after setting this up now on 2.5 and upload a photo I am not seeing it in the activity log. I have jomsocial open graph plugin enabled. All others are not installed except for custom which needs to be enabled. Do I need to enable this to work? Do I need to add open graph tags when the photo is rendered?

Also I see there is a profile object type . What actions do you recommend for this object? Will there be other object like events? videos etc ? To test you can look at my live server. Thanks

You'll need to do more than just enable the Open Graph - JomSocial plugin. You'll need to create a 'photo' object and an 'upload' action. You should already have all the information to set that up if you already had that functionality. If you already did create it, let me know those settings. Also, check the Ativity Log and let me know if anything posted there when you try to upload.

You don't need the "Custom" Open Graph plugin enabled for other features to work. That's if you want to add Open Graph functionality to an extension we don't support.

For the Profile Object type, it's up to you. You can create a "View" button that users can click, or a "Like" button, or whatever you want.

We're hoping to add more object and action types for other JomSocial features soon, but haven't begun that development yet.

I have created the object and the action via the backend. Do I need to add any custom code with the OG tags where the page renders? IE do I have to add any code to the jomsocial functions that would render the actual page?

Do you have the mod_security Apaache module installed and enabled on your server? We've been unable to narrow down what is causing the error when saving, but knowing if you have that enabled would help. If so, I'd recommend contacting your hosting company or server support to:
* Temporarily disable mod_security
* Provide the security log which will explain the exception that's being raised so we can look into it further and try to change what we're doing.
