Hey,
how can I limit the number of images/faces loaded in the fanbox module?
no matter which height/width I choose, there are always several faces loaded outside.

You can't, unfortunately. Facebook loads a ton avatars in the faces area, and then simply crops the area based on the width / height parameters. It doesn't actually limit the number of images that are loaded by the browser though.

I, and many others, wish that Facebook would actually prevent extra, unseen, avatars from being loaded too.

Hope that answers your question,
Alex

yes, I suspected it was a FB issue, but it doesn't really crop well...

Yeah, it doesn't crop to ensure a full image is shown at all. You'll need to adjust the height/width settings to 'cut off' at the image boundaries if that's what you're looking for.

well,
this is not really possible, cause even if you adjust the height/width you get:
1. no border (or at least one missing side)
2. different height/width for users that did LIKE and people that didn't

We actually just had another bug report about the missing border issue. That's something we hadn't seen before and seems to be a bug with Facebook itself. For more information on what we found from our testing, see our response Facebook like-box border missing post.

As for the different size for when Like'd vs not-Like'd, that's not an issue we've heard of before. What actually changes for you? The whole size of the Like-Box, or just one section (header, faces, stream)? Maybe we're just not looking in the right spot.

Thanks,
Alex
