Topic-icon installing JFBC 4.3 takes down site: apparent k2 conflict

Installing 4.3 disabled my site completely front and back with the error:
Fatal error: Cannot make static method JModel::addIncludePath() non static in class K2Model in /administrator/components/com_k2/models/model.php on line 0
I had to disable JFBCSystem via phpmyadmin to get control of the site back.

Grateful for your help diagnosing the problem. The site is at profr.me

Never heard of that issue and really can't understand how that would be happening.

* When you disable the JFBCSystem plugin, the error goes away?
* Can you let us know what version of K2 you're using?
* What version of Joomla are you using?

We'll gladly look into it further, but there are tons of sites using JFBConnect and K2, so something's different about your configuration that we'll need to understand more.

Thanks,
Alex

David,
Actually, did a bit of searching. There's lots of reports about the exact error you mention and they aren't related to JFBConnect. This is an issue with K2 itself and, it seems, certain versions of Joomla:
getk2.org/community/New-to-K2-Ask-here-f...2Model---fatal-error

Are you running Joomla 2.5? Was your site ever on Joomla 1.6 or 1.7? Hope that thread helps get you started on some possible fixes.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes I saw those, thanks. But that didn't really get me anywhere. The conflict only arises with JFBC. Yes, disabling JFBCSystem gets rid of all errors. It was a fresh install of JFBConnect, downloaded today from your site.
Joomla version is 2.5.8 and was never older than 2.5.7
K2 version 2.6.2
Web Server nginx/0.8.53
PHP version 5.2.17
MySQL version 5.1.39-log

Hi - any further thoughts on this?

David,
We've done some more investigation and can't recreate that error whatsoever. Our development site has Joomla 2.5.8, K2 v2.6.2 and of course the latest JFBConnect. There's also hundreds (if not thousands) of sites with JFBConnect and K2 running on them. Yours is the only one that's different, and I don't have an idea as to what could be different.

Can you let us know:
* Was the only change you made the installation of JFBConnect v4.3?
* When did you upgrade K2?
* If re-order the K2 System and JFBCSystem plugins so they are in different postions (first, last, before, after each other), does the issue remain?
* Does this only happen on K2 pages, or on any pages of your site?
* Admin or Front-end only?

Sorry to throw so many questions at you, but just need a lot more details to try and possibly narrow things down. You may also want to post on the K2 support forums as someone there may have a better idea since the error is obviously being thrown within K2.

Thanks,
Alex

* Was the only change you made the installation of JFBConnect v4.3?
Yes it was
* When did you upgrade K2?
It was a completely fresh build of my site. Installation and configuration went like this: fresh install of Joomla 2.5.7 > upgrade to 2.5.8 > install k2 2.6.2 > install jomsocial 2.8 > install xmap, offlajn improved login and > install JFBConnect 4.3. Everything was tested and working fine until JFBConnect. Then the error, which disappears as soon as you disable your extension via phpmyadmin.
* If re-order the K2 System and JFBCSystem plugins so they are in different postions (first, last, before, after each other), does the issue remain?
I just tried reenabling your JFBCSystem extension after reordering plugins to put yours first and last, and K2 first and last (4 tests). No joy. I left your plugin enabled. You can see the test site is down at profr.me with the error: Fatal error: Cannot make static method JModel::addIncludePath() non static in class K2Model in /home/larpo/profr.me/administrator/components/com_k2/models/model.php on line 0
* Does this only happen on K2 pages, or on any pages of your site?
All pages of the site, front and back.
* Admin or Front-end only?
Front and back

David,
I'm assuming you re-disabled the plugin. I'm still completely unsure as to what could be causing the problem. I also don't know how it's related to JFBConnect, and think it's still an underlying issue with K2. Since this is an issue that's been reported on their forums for months, I'm not sure what we'd be able to do. I understand that the JFBCSystem plugin seems to be involved, but my guess is that the problem also goes away if you disable the K2 System plugin.

With all that said, if you can provide super admin credentials to your site, we'll gladly look at your configuration and try to narrow down what may be wrong. We'll do what we can, but not sure we'll be able to fix it or come up with a solution at all other than asking for support from the K2 developers as well.

I'd definitely recommend asking in the K2 support forum either way in case they know what the K2Model class is trying to do and already have a suggested fix.

Thanks,
Alex
