Hi,
I used to have the facebook login buttons appear whenever a user clicked on Sign up or login. Now they are gone. See
screencast.com/t/j4OuQfQ4
screencast.com/t/ugSMaoWjw

I checked the overrides folder to make sure register.index.php was still there with the JFB code and it is there as it should be. Any idea what is wrong?

Did you upgrade JomSocial recently? I know they just came out with a new release that we haven't fully tested yet. It's possible they changed the name of that file so the override isn't being used anymore.

Also, if you enable the SCLogin module, even temporarily, does the button work then?

Thanks,
Alex

No, sorry, we checked a few things in the latest release, but there's no reason it shouldn't work. The {JFBCLogin} tag is definitely still available and should work. If it's not for you, something strange is happening.

Can you Private Message me a set of Super Admin credentials so we can take a look?

Thanks,
Alex

I replied to a prior private message where I included those access details. A real pain to figure out how to private message you. The only constructive feedback I have for your organisation is to change your support interface; it's not intuitive at all. The guys at JReviews have a great one and I have seen it in use on other sites so it doesn't look like a proprietary custom design, but it easily allows me to leave all the details you need without anyone else seeing it.

I'm sorry you don't like our support methods. Most other support systems we've looked at do not provide a way to create public support tickets. We like the idea of users being able to find answers on their own and contribute their feedback to solutions in case they are affected as well. We agree there could be some improvements to our interface, and we're currently in the process of re-designing our site completely.

As to your issue, your template override directory seems incorrect. Looking at the file struction, the directory for your override is /templates/refresh/html/com_community_/register.index.php . I'm not sure why there is an underscore at the end of com_community_, but that would prevent the overrides from being detected. That underscore should be removed.

Finally, regarding admin credentials, after we're done helping with an issue, we delete the credentials. We don't like the idea of having lots of super admin credentials in our inbox and also like to keep things cleaner for us to navigate by having less messages.

Hope that all helps,
Alex

Alex. Please accept my apologies for raining on your parade. I came across as ungrateful pain-in-the-ass. Yes I have difficulty with this back-end, but you've already said you will improve it in the future and you more than make up for it by going the extra-mile in solving my issues.

So again 1000 pardons.

Thanks for the excellent detective work; that com_community_ thing was the problem. Real mystery to me that it got that way.

Thanks again.

Peter,
No problem. I didn't take what you said as bad. Frankly, I'm the positive type of guy who always looks at criticism as constructive, so no worries there. We do realize there are some short-comings to our current support solution, but don't plan to overhaul it with a ticket based system. Those just aren't the style we like. We are going to be agressive in making the forums much simpler when we finally get our redesign done, hopefully by the end of February. If, at that time, you have any problems or more feedback, we'd love it just as much then as we appreciate it now.

As for your template override problem, glad that got you fixed up! Should you need anything else, as always, just let us know!

Best of luck to you and your site,
Alex
