Hi I am looking to use this plugin for a squeeze page. Does anyone have an example of this being done ?

I don't have any examples I could provide, but I know there are some sites that have used JFBConnect with squeeze-type pages.

In general, there are extensions for Joomla that allow the creation of squeeze page popups to gather more information. In that popup, you can easily add a Login with Facebook button to the page or any of the other social widgets (Like's, Comment's, etc) with our easy-tags ({JFBCLogin}, {JFBCLike}, {JFBCComments}, etc).

If you have any questions, just let us know,
Alex

Hey thanks for the reply. The plugin works great, So well in fact I actually have little idea as to if my new recruits emails are being collected.

All I want is a landing page with a feature to grab the users email for our newsletter in exchange for access to our registered Downloads area. I made the section registered only in the menu item.

If that be a simple login I guess {JFBCLogin} centered would do the trick.

Ron,
To get the user's email address from Facebook, you'd need to have them click the "Login with Facebook" button. Once clicked, that's what lets the user give permission for their email (and other profile information) be shared with your site. So, that'd be the first step. Once that's done, if you have automatic registration enabled (in JFBConnect), they will then have an account on your site and you'l have their email address. No forms or other stuff will be required in the registration flow, so it should be pretty smooth for your users.

Hope that helps, but if you have any more questions, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

The shared SSL won't work for the Facebook functionality that needs it. However, the only functionality that needs SSL is Page Tab and Canvas integration, where you can show parts of your site within a Facebook.com address. Additionally, the Requests feature of JFBConnect requires SSL since it relies on the Canvas integration.

Likes, Login, Open Graph, and all the other social widgets do not require SSL. I'm not sure what you meant by "force like from facebook", but hopefully that helps explain when SSL is required.. which for Like's in general, it isn't.

Thanks,
Alex
