Hi!

Going nuts trying to follow this link: developers.facebook.com/apps to create a new app. It keeps taking me to Facebook backend stuff. No matter what I click on I am never taken to the page where you create a new app.

Anyone else have this problem?

Cheers :)

Not sure what you mean by 'backend stuff'. To create an app, make sure you're logged in with the Facebook User (not a Page) that you want to create the app as. From your previous posts, it seems like you've created apps before, correct? If so, can you edit them now or can you not access them at all either?

Let us know, and we'll help how we can.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi!

Ok, so I created a personal account, and was able to access the app area and created app id etc. Went to backend and entered this info in, and now get this error:

getFieldList - Error: Could not communicate with SourceCoast.com to fetch up-to-date information.
Could not fetch application and recommendation data from SourceCoast.com. Cached values were loaded, but may be out of date.
It's highly recommended that you make a successful connection to get the most up to date application data and recommendations.

Cheers :)

That error usually occurs from either of the following scenarios:
* Your server has a firewall setup that isn't allowing outgoing connections to our server to fetch the right information. You'll need to make sure your server can send out requests to sourcecoast.com and facebook.com
* cURL is not properly configured on your server. Our "Basic Info" page of Autotune should check if cURL is enabled. If that shows it's enabled, that's likely not the problem, but there are still cases where it doesn't work right.

Hope that helps get you started. There's not much we can do on our end of things, so you may need to contact your hosting provider to check the above.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi!

Just checked with my hosting, and this is what they said:

Hello,

I have checked the above and this site SourceCoast.com does not load for me and gives this error:

Unable to determine IP address from host name "www.sourcecoast.com"

Can you also ask them at which port they need open for this communication?

Cheers :)

If a DNS lookup for sourcecoast.com isn't working, that's the problem. It should definitely resolve to our IP address.

The port to communicate with us is simply port 80, standard HTTP requests. So, just like you connect using your browser, it should work from the server as well.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Hi,

It was a problem with DNS hosting, which is now resolved.

Thanks for your help! :)

Glad to hear we helped get you going. If you need anything else, just let us know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please leave a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated:

Thanks,
Alex
