JFBC-JS Plugin was created by sougatab
Hi Alex,

Was trying to get some documentation to understand what the following plugin does?
plg_community_jfbcjsactivity

Please let me know the function of this plugin.

That plugin pushes any status updates that are made in the activity stream of JomSocial to the user's Facebook wall. Just install and enable it and any JomSocial 'public' posts will be pushed to the user's FB wall if they're logged in through JFBConnect.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Thanks Alex!
Is it possible to push activities like "user just uploaded a photo" to FB with a link to the photo?

With the new Open Graph Actions that are part of JFBConnect v4.3, yes, you can. There's a separate Open Graph plugin for JomSocial that supports the actions of Joining a Group and Uploading an Image to an album. Actions are better for what you're looking to do as it will push that 'event' to the users Timeline. The jfbcjsactivity plugin is good for pushing the actual status message as if the user posted it on Facebook.

If you haven't started looking into that yet, I'd recommend reading the blog announcement below along with the video which shows off both of those actions:
Facebook Open Graph Actions for Joomla Available Now

If that's something you're looking to implement, we have the full configuration guide below:
Facebook Open Graph Setup

Hope that helps,
Alex

Are Open Graph actions visible on Jomsocial activity stream also? Or only in FB?

Can Open Graph actions be linked to Alpha User Points?

No, Open Graph Actions don't get pushed to the JomSocial activity stream. For things 'on-site' for Joomla, you'd want the extension developer to implement that. The problem with pushing actions to the JomSocial activity stream is that everything appears there. Open Graph Actions are filtered by Facebook to choose the best ones to display based on relevance to the viewer and other criteria. If we posted every Open Graph Action to the JomSocial stream, it would overwhelm the site with not as useful stuff like "Read article 'a'", "Read article 'b'" and likely hurt the overall look of the stream.

Hope that helps explain,
Alex

I agree with that. A lot of things would start appearing in the activity stream.

Can you provide some rules plugin so that Open Graph actions get linked to Alpha User Points?

We wouldn't create AUP plugins for OG Actions. It really doesn't make sense. Open Graph Actions are only for users that are logged in through Facebook whereas you may want to award points to any users that are logged in. Additionally, there are already AUP Rules for most actions, like reading or voting on an article, etc. You shouldn't really need (or want) to piggy back on our OG Actions for that stuff and would want to configure points separately.

Hope that makes sense,
Alex

That's right Alex.

We are trying to find some ways to encourage users to login using JFBC instead of the Joomla login. That's why we are thinking how we can provide more incentives to users who register/login via JFBC.

Thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately, adding AUP rules for Open Graph Actions that are likely already covered by other AUP rules is not something we are planning to do. It just gets too complex and not something a large portion of users would be looking for.

If you have other things that are JFBConnect specific that you'd like awarding points for, let us know and we'll gladly look into it.

Hope that helps and that you understand our point of view,
Alex
