When you say "but since JFBConnect v4.3 I've noticed the problem", do you know if you looked at this area of your site when you were using v4.2? Many times, users upgrade and they simply notice issues that existed before, but they never saw. It's ok if you did (or didn't notice) before, it just helps us narrow down if it's really a v4.3 thing or something that has just been going on a while. In general, we really didn't touch any code with the faces for the Fan module or anything else in v4.3, and we simply call Facebook's code to have them show the faces anyways.

While we definitely had an issue with the Like button that was our fault, the 'interior' of the modules, we have little control over. Definitely confused as to what's happening, but will continue trying to help however we can.

I have found some bugs logged into Facebook that seem to describe the issue (along with settings that cause the problem). You may want to look through these to see if it's the same bug(s) your affected by:
developers.facebook.com/bugs/193583344100320
developers.facebook.com/bugs/312382875517810

From that last one, Facebook admits they can reproduce the problem, so I'm pretty sure this is a Facebook issue and not something we can fix.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Hi,

It just so happens I have been working on the website steadily for a few weeks now. I saw the profile pics every time, except for occasional network timeouts. Did some searching earlier, and found many people complaining about the same (or similar) with the FB Like Box. It seems very likely a Facebook issue. Only reason I can think of for v4.3 relevance, is if there was some updated API code. Unfortunately, it is also increasing page load times a lot, when logged into Facebook and going to a website with the Like Box within same browser. ...Another indicator pointing to Facebook. They could just be coincidentally rolling out updates making some accounts work properly, and other not. Time permitting, I was contemplating backtracking to 4.2.x to test. Thank you.

Lars

Steve,
Looks like we cross-posted. Glad the solution worked for you, and sorry (to everyone) for the trouble!

Lars,
Definitely seems like a weird Facebook issue. The bugs above indicate that as well. Going forward, as you investigate, I'd say to create a new topic and we can discuss this further. We've definitely gotten way off track from what the original issue was for this topic (hidden Like/Send buttons), which has also already been solved.

Facebook is always rolling out updates to their Javascript. Generally those updates bring improvements, but sometimes cause issues as there are millions of sites they are used on. Minor changes can cause unknowns on a small % of sites. Feel free to roll back to JFBConnect 4.2.x, but be aware that when you re-upgrade to v4.3, you'll see some DB error messages during installation. That's normal as we don't have a 'downgrade' process built-in, but it shouldn't cause any issues.

Again, let us know any results you find in a new thread. That may also help others who are having this issue chime in and help find a common factor among the sites affected.

Thanks,
Alex

The commenting out CSS fixed worked for me. It also fixed an issue where the {JFBCLogin} tag was messing up JReviews' FB buttons layout.

Great to hear! The v4.3.1 release was delayed by a few days to clean up a few other minor issues and clarify some things with Open Graph Actions for easier customization. It should be out early next week, and will definitely include the CSS change for this silly, and annoying, issue.

Thanks,
Alex
