Hi there,

I am currently setting up and at the last stage of error check. I am getting the following error below. Any advice in how to sort this?

JFBConnect Remote Error Check
Checks performed on: www.theglasgowhub.com/
Error: Could not fetch page. Server returned:
Error Code: 303 - Page Moved. A redirect was found on your home page. The Error Checker cannot follow redirects.

Regards

Graeme

Graeme,
It's because you have the language switcher (or some other language extension) enabled on your site. That's redirecting your home page to /index.php/en/. Our Error Checker doesn't currently follow redirections, so that one tool won't work for you. However, I just looked at your page and did the checks the tool would do manually, and I didn't see any issues.

So, you shouldn't run into any issues and I'd just continue like normal. If you run into anything, it's likely not something the Error Checker would have caught anyways.

We're hoping to update the Error Checker to follow redirects in the next month or so, but it adds a bit of complexity so we need to evaluate that a bit.

Hope that helps, but if you have any questions, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a way to disable having the '/index.php/en/' on the end of the URL i have noticed most Joomla sites seem to have this?

Yes i have tried logging in it seems to work okay. Couple of questions through. When people login using their facebook login details is there a way to have a small icon showing their profile picture? I also have Facebook connect with my Zoo component to allow people to login with facebook to leave a comment (it came as part of the zoo package). However, the JFBfacebook connect main login doesn't seem to link with this, it shows at this section that they are logged in with joomla rather than facebook. Any suggestions?

Regards

Graeme

The extra part of the URL is due to the System - Language Filter plugin being enabled. That will try to create a URL that is specific to the user that is visiting your page and is meant for multi-lingual sites. If you don't have a multi-lingual site, you should probably disable that plugin. If that's already disabled, it means that you have some other language extension installed that's changing the URL to a language-specific URL.

Hope that helps explain the URL issue.

As to your other questions, in the SCLogin module, there is an option to show the user's avatar. For Zoo, I'm not sure how their comment system works. However, if they're using the Facebook Comments widget, it likely has a different login than what we provide in JFBConnect. To post a comment, Facebook only requires that you are logged into Facebook. To register on your site, you need to "Approve" the Facebook Application for that site, which has it's own permissions like letting you (the admin) fetch the user's email address and profile information. There's not a way to hook into the Comment login functionlity, which is for basic "Are you logged into Facebook" with your site's registration which has much more stringent requirements.

If you have any questions, or need more information on the above, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the advice re the URL issue. I have added in the profile pic thank you. I will try and figure out a way for the comments.

On another note. My facebook login on the homepage seems to jump around a bit when the site is loading particularly in safari but also in internet explorer and firefox. Is there a conflict with something else on the site?

Thanks

Graeme

Graeme,
That's an issue with the Javascript version of the Login with Facebook button. We use the Javascript button by default, but you can use a static image instead, which prevents the 'jumpy-ness' issue. To do so, in the SCLogin module, switch the Login Button Type to "Image" and then provide a URL to any image you'd like to use for the image. You can create your own, or just take a picture of the existing Javascript version and use that.

Hope that helps, but if you need anything else, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex
