Back-End Errors was created by keenmouse
I've recently started having some problems with my sites using JFBConnect. These sites are all part of the same Bluehost web hosting account, so it could be a common issue.

Attempting to access the Overview page, I usually get:

500 - An error has occurred.
String could not be parsed as XML

When I do manage to get the Overview page, it says this in the upper-right area:

Live Update not supported

And when I click Start on the AutoTune page, I get this:

getFieldList - Error: Could not communicate with SourceCoast.com to fetch up-to-date information.

Could not fetch application and recommendation data from SourceCoast.com. Cached values were loaded, but may be out of date.
It's highly recommended that you make a successful connection to get the most up to date application data and recommendations.

Those errors are usually caused by any of the following:
* The PHP cURL extension is not installed. This can be checked on the Autotune home page.
* The PHP cURL extension is installed, but has been disabled by your server admin. You can check this by going to System Info in Joomla and going to the PHP Information tab. Search for "disabled_functions" and see if anything with 'curl' in it is listed there. If so, you'd need to talk to your host.
* Your server has a firewall that is blocking outgoing connections. You'll need to allow outgoing connections to sourcecoast.com and *.facebook.com

Hope one of those helps you narrow down the issue, but if not, let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Elisid,
In general, please create a new topic unless your issus is directly related to another. I don't think you problem is the same as the original post here.

As to the problem, and possible solution, can you go to the Global Configuration area of Joomla and set "Error Reporting" to "Maximum". Then, try to re-enable the plugin again. A big PHP error will hopefully show up that describes the problem and will help us provide you with a good solution.

Once you do so, please create a new topic and let us know what the error is and we'll do what we can to help you get to the bottom of the problem!

Thanks,
Alex

All three of those items appear to be in order. I know that outbound connections are allowed because Akeeba Backup, Akeeba Admin Tools, and Joomla itself are all able to check for updates. The security protections in Admin Tools are the only thing I can think of that might possibly be interfering, but I've been using it for some time without any JFBConnect issues. It does get updated fairly frequently, but I'm not sure whether the current problem coincided with an update.

Keen,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. I just got into your site, and I can't see any of the errors you mention. The Autotune wizard is working and the Overview page is properly showing the newest versions available as well as that LiveUpdate is ready to go.

It may have been an intermittent problem with your server or with ours, but either way, it seems to have gone away. Can you check again and see? If not, let us know, and we'll gladly look more into it, but hopefully, everything's back to normal now.

Thanks,
Alex
