When you add the subscribe button, you need to include the url of the Facebook user's profile that your visitors can subscribe too. The subscribe button is a way for users on your site to subscribe to the activity feed of a Facebook profile only, so you'll need to use a profile URL like www.facebook.com/your_username

Hope that helps, but if not, let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi! ive managed to get the button up on my page.
and once I click on the button, it asks me to log in,
which I do, (with a different address to the one im trying to subscribe to), then it goes back to the subscribe button still saying 0 in the subscribe box
and nothing has happened...?
do i need to enable the option to 'log in with face book' , as well????
thanks

Mike,
Not sure why that would be happening. The only thing I can think of is to make sure that the user profile you're linking to Subscribe to actually has the subscriptions ability enabled. If it's your user profile, go to the www.facebook.com/settings?tab=subscribers page and make sure that User Subscribers are enabled.

If that doesn't work, can you let us know the URL where we can see the Subscribe button so we can try to diagnose what the issue is?

Thanks,
Alex

It seems to be working today... I haven't done anything different but thats cool.
So it is working, however, it only works with the username of the profile page I have created. when i try to use the username for the 'created a page' I have created it doesn't work. here is my url www.deathorchaos.com

also, I have liked a few pages from my personal profile and i get news feeds to the home page all the time.
Will this happen when people click on my like button?
If so, why do i need a subscribe button.
thanks

Mike,
Sorry for the delay. The Subscribe button only works for user profiles. It doesn't work for Pages (product, company, etc), which is what I think you are trying to use.

In that case, you're right, you should be using a Like button or, likely even better, the JFBCFan module. That module is meant to work with Facebook Pages and can display the admin activity stream, a Like button, and images of users who have Like'd your page. All that helps entice other user's to Like the page.

As for the feed, yes, once a user Like's your FB Page (either on Facebook.com or using a Like button on your site that points to your FB Page), your posts to your Page can show up in a user's feed. Facebook ultimately decides what shows up in a user's feed based on when the popularity of the post, relevance, and many other factors.

Hope that helps explain, but if you need anything else, just let us know,
Alex

Hi Alex, thanks for your continued help with this.
after some deliberation ive come to understand that it may be best to use the created profile page as the link
through my web site, as opposed to a created page, through the profile page.

I was of the understanding that you had to use a 'created page' for business stuff, am I correct now in assuming
that using the profile page is ok, because its kindof indirect, in that its purpose is to direct people to my website...?

Assuming that my assumptions 'are' correct, ive gone ahead and added the old jfbc like (and send) button linked to the profile page.
however, when I click the like button (logged in from an unrelated Face book address), '1' shows up in the count box and then changes back to '0' straight away.
so its not letting me like it. any ideas??
thanks again

Mike,
I'm a bit confused with the different pages and redirections you're mentioning :)

Generally, there are "User Profiles" and "Facebook Pages":
* User Profiles are meant to be 'individual' pages and not meant for really promoting a product, business or other item. A User Profile is meant for making 2-way connections with other users (friendships).
* Facebook Pages are one-way communication channels where anyone can "Like" the page. Then, the Facebook Page can push information out to their wall and the user's that Like it. Pages are meant for businesses and products.

The Subscribe button (which coincidentally is being changed by Facebook to be a "Follow" button due to common confusion of it's purpose) is meant for "User Profiles".
The JFBCLike or JFBCFan module can be used for Facebook Pages.

So, hope that explains a bit more about the different types of pages available from Facebook.

Beyond that, for the Like button going from 0->1->0 quickly, what URL is the Like button pointing to? Can you post the URL the Like button is on or the URL you've set in the Like button parameters that is to be Like'd? That problem is usually easy to fix by running either page though Facebook's URL Debug tool and looking for issues:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

Hope that helps,
Alex

Ok, so it does seem like a 'facebook page' 'is' the way to go. thanks.
Now im thinking I should create a 'facebook page' via my personal 'user profile'
so that I have all the poeple im already friends with, that I can invite to like my page.
If i do this, will users know that its me... like, will it be obviously linked back to my 'personal user profile'
beacause i would rather remain as ananimous as possible.
I have put the 'like button' issue on the back burner as im now considering changing the url/jfbc module again s)
but i might try that debug link anyhow
Thanks!!
