Hi,
I'm working on a website for a client who wants to add facebook functionality to the website, but she is running the institutional information on a facebook page under her personal facebook account. I understand JFBConnect needs to have access to a facebook app and apps can only be created for user accounts and not pages under a user account.
If i create the app under her personal account, will i be able to connect the web site with JFBConnect to the page she is running for her institution or it will only connect to her personal account?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

A FB Page and a FB App are separate things altogether. When you have an App created, you can use the Facebook Like Box (JFBCFan module) to display information about your FB Page on your website (# Likes, activity stream, user faces).

Beyond that, I'm not sure what you mean by "connect the web site ... to the page she is running". What are you looking to do? With the Facebook App, users will be able to login to the site (if you want) and you'll be able to do a lot of things, but just not sure what you want to do with the FB Page itself on the site.

Hope that helps clarify some things, but definitely keep me posted on what your intent is and we'll help how we can!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thanks for answering. :-)

Ok, I haven't actually finished setting up JFBConnect on the site (I still need to create the FB App to configure JFBConnect) but I was just wondering, since the FB Page (her bussines Page) was created under her personal FB User account, will I be able to display feeds on the joomla web site from the FB Page and not her personal FB User and the like box will add likes to her FB Page and NOT her personal account.

I'll give Like Box (JFBCFan module) a try and post back if I run into any issues.

Thank you.

The Like button can be used for any URL. That can be the home page of your site, any sub-page, or it can even point to your Facebook Page. You can place the Like button on any page of your site and point it anywhere else. When you use the Like button for different pages of your site, each page will get it's own unique Like Count and posts to the user's wall. When you point the Like button to your FB Page, all the Like's will go to the FB Page.

So, you should be able to do anything you're looking to do with the Like button.

Showing the feed from your FB Page can be done with the JFBCFan module which can show all admin posts from your page as well as the Like button and other features.

Hope that helps clarify some more, and good luck!
Alex
