Hello and thanks for your support,
One of our registered users report that she is trying to connect her existing joomla account on our website with her facebook page and she receives a message saying:
Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet. We reset her password and she still receives the same error message. Can you please advise?
Thank you

Is the user logging in through Facebook? There shouldn't be any reason for that I can think of. When you say that she is trying to connect her account to "her facebook page", does she mean a real "Facebook Page" or just a personal Facebook profile, like 99% of user's have? Facebook Pages are something else and not something you can usually log into.

If that is what she's trying and getting that message though, can you tell me where the error is being reported? Is it in the login popup window for Facebook or on your site itself? That will help us narrow down possible causes.

Also, are you having any issues with other users logging in using Facebook?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
Thank
By FB page I meant FB account, trying to login as an existing user with her fb account (linking).
Please see the attached png with screenshot - the error is on my site.
I have not heard about other users with the same issue.

Hmm. I've never seen any of those error messages about not being able to find the components. Have you seen that message in any other areas of your site?

Can you try going to the JLinked User Map area in the admin section and deleting the mapping for your account (or a test account you may have) and then trying to link your accounts? See if you run into the same issue or see any of the same error messages as that will help narrow things down.

Not sure what else to try if this is specific to that one user and not something we've seen or would know how to recreate.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
I tested it with my account. I can link my account with FB. The only messages that appear are:
Error loading component: com_jfbconnect, 1
Error loading component: com_menus, 1
Thank you,

The only reason I can think that the user can connect their accounts is that their password or username is actually wrong. Would it be possible to ask the user for their login information and try yourself? Alternatively, ask them to log into their account using Joomla and change their password to a 'simpler' one and then try re-connecting again. It's possible some odd character is causing issues with authentication, though it shouldn't be a problem.

Still not sure what the Error Loading component messages are. I know we had a discussion about that a long time ago and it seems that that's a Joomla issue that would need to be investigated outside of JFBConnect.

Let us know if the user still has issues connecting accounts!

Thanks,
Alex

Please do. Curious to know what the issue could be as that's not one we've heard of before.

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex

Great to hear! Do you know what the problem was? Did she just change her password and it began to work? Do you know if she was using any special characters in her password that may have been the problem? They certainly shouldn't cause issues, but if we're filtering things in a bad way, we'll gladly look into it further.

Anyways, glad it's all figured out, and good luck!
Alex
