Topic-icon Mobile Web URL Doesn't Work in Facebook App

When configuring my facebook app, there's a section called "Select how your app integrates with Facebook". In this section, I've specified a Mobile Web URL from my Joomla site. This functionality has worked in the past, but it hasn't worked in the last several months. It currently redirects users to a facebook 404 page when using a mobile device, which says "The Page You Requested Was Not Found".

Any ideas on how to get this to work again? I've specified an HTTPS, non-SEF URL in the "Mobile Site URL" text box.

Not sure. Can you post (or PM) me the URL you're using for your mobile site? That may help understand where the issue lies. Also, are you running anything special to make your site mobile friendly?

Other things to try or note are:
* Set the Mobile URL just to your home page and see if that helps.
* When I go to your site from your signature with https, there's a lot of content that is loaded over a non-secure connection. Can you try making sure your site is fully https friendly in that all Javascript, stylesheets and other assets are loaded over https?
* Alternatively, try a different template on your mobile site just to see if that helps the situation.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried switching the URL to the homepage, it did not affect anything.

I was able to resolve the SSL issues. Thanks for pointing that out, looks like the page cache was interfering, and the CDN settings got changed some how. Unfortunately, fixing that did not resolve the issue either.

And the template for the page tab was set to "Use Default - No Override". I tried a few different templates and it did not fix the issue. :/

I'll PM you the specifics, hopefully that will help provide more info to troubleshoot.

I just tried opening the link in Safari and this is the page I get redirected to: m.facebook.com/4oh4.php?id=142549317461&_rdr

That looks like the ID of my facebook page (not app), but its going to a facebook 404 error page. I couldn't see this in the native app, thought it might be useful for troubleshooting.

Any other thoughts?

EDIT: I just found this on stack overflow, but the replies don't make sense to me. If you specify a Mobile Web URL, it should properly redirect, right?

Ryan,
Yeah, not sure what the Stack Overflow posts meant either. You *can* do your own redirects, but shouldn't need too. That's the point of the Mobile URL.

As for your issue though, I finally found a bug report on Facebook for users with the same issue. The problem is marked as "Fix Ready" which means it should go out over the next few days or so:
developers.facebook.com/bugs/280811108698311

Hopefully when that fix is pushed out, your problem will go away. If that doesn't look like your issue though, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex! I saw that bug report too... it seems to be related, but I'm not sure if that fix will correct my issue. The steps to reproduce say to click the log in button to get redirected to the 4oh4 page. In my scenario, I never get to that step. The 4oh4 page pops up when I try to navigate to the page app. The user can be either logged in or out of Joomla.

I submitted a separate bug report last week and it's been assigned to someone. If anyone else is having this issue, please subscribe and repro it --> developers.facebook.com/bugs/288594131250640

Glad you submitted the report and keep us posted on how it goes. I really don't think there's anything we can do on our end for this issue, unfortunately.

Best of luck,
Alex
