Yes, this is a common problem with brand new sites. You shouldn't be having it for that long on your site, since it's established. However, the behavior describe is what I mentioned above that Facebook wants to see your content before allowing anyone to actually Like it.
One thing you can check is that you don't have a firewall or .htaccess rule that may be preventing their spidering software from actually crawling your site. If you are blocking them in some way, that would prevent the automatic scanning that should be happening.
