Please make sure that you're installing the right JFBConnect version for your Joomla version. In the zip file that you're installing, it will have a _j1.5 or _j2.5 in the name and that should match your Joomla version.

Beyond that, also make sure that you have unzipped the main file that you downloaded from SourceCoast. If the filename ends with _unzip_first, you'll need to unzip it first.

Hope that helps, but if you still have issues, let us know, and we can try to come up with other possible causes.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you Alex,

I downloaded and attempted to install 2.5 version (I am on version 2.5.4 of Joomla). I did as you suggested and unzipped the files in to a different directory and attempted to upload those zip files individually. I rec'd the same xml error on three of those zip files. Only the jfb connect file installed without error.

I looks like the jfb connect file might be all I need. I proceeded with setup but got derailed when it asks for the facebook ID and secret. I went to the developers site on facebook as suggested but once there I am not sure what I am doing. Is there a tutorial for this portion?

The other files in the main zip need to be unzipped first as well as they have multiple modules or plugins in each. For the installation, and Facebook App creation, if you haven't been using the JFBConnect Configuration Guide , we'd highly recommend it as it should answer most of your questions and guide you through every step.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Can you paste the full filename of the files with issues into this post? That will help us know what file is causing issues and then provide some suggestions or workarounds, if necessary, for those specific files.

We'll help get you going though!

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you Alex. I do appreciate your availability and willingness to help on a Sunday! I looked at the files that I extracted from the main zip file and saw that the last two were also "unzip first" files, so I went ahead and extracted them and installed each individually. The only one at this point that isn't installing (due to the xml error) is:

alphauserpoints_v4.2.1

Glad you got all the other files going. We definitely know that our installation process is the worst part of JFBConnect. Once installed, hopefully things go a bit smoother. We're working on an improved installer mechanism for the next major JFBConnect release.

As for the alphauserpoints file, you likely don't need that. If you're using Alpha User Points, a 3rd party extension, you need to use their installer to use that file. The standard Joomla installer doesn't work for it. If you don't have Alpha User Points, then just ignore that file.

Anyways, best of luck, and no problem for the help on a Sunday.. it's what we do!
