Multiple FB Apps was created by amg99
Hi,

I've setup everything and things are working well. But as was the case, JFBConnect can only use one fb app. However, I would like to create additional apps for other purposes.

What I did are as follows:
  1. Created an FB Page
  2. Installed and configured jfbconnect with a main app (I didn't embed the main app on the page since it points to the home page. Can that be changed?)
  3. Created an additional app that points to a menu item domain.com/latest-news (a custom joomla template for fb page tab was assigned to it)
  4. Created another app that points to a single article (via menu item also)
  5. Lastly, another app will be created, this time for newsletter subscription

I'm wondering if this approach is ok and that I won't have any problems when I enable fb site logins considering I'm using multiple apps.
Any other stuffs that I should be concerned about?

Thanks!

Amg,
Multiple apps are ok. There's a few things to note:
* You can have the Page Tab for your 'main' app go to any URL from your site, not just the home page. You can configure that within Autotune, or the Facebook Developers area. The Site URL must be your home page, but the Page Tab is a separate setting.
* If you create other apps, JFBConnect won't be able to change the template on the fly. Our custom template override will only work for the main app. However, if you assign a template to a menu for a specific page that will be used only with your app, that should work just fine.

So, what your doing sounds just fine. When a user logs in, they will be logging in to your 'main app'. Other apps for different Page Tabs is absolutely fine as well, but users won't be able to login to those apps.. just the main one. Obviously test, but I think you're just fine if I understand everything correctly.

Hope that helps!
Alex

Cool post! I need to create some other facebook tabs on our FB page and I would like to use JFBC for this.

Only one of my apps requires the user to log in. Sounds like that would be the "Main" app ID for the site. But how do I assign a different facebook app to another menu item and port it to facebook?

Yeah, the 'main' app is what you use in the JFBConnect configuration for letting using login.

JFBConnect can't use multiple apps. However, in the FB App configuration for the Page Tab configuration, you can point to any page on your site you want. If you include the Itemid (or have an SEF URL that points to a specific Itemid menu item), you can set a specific template to show on that menu item. If they navigate to new template items, a new template will show. JFBConnect would keep the same template on all pages, so there are some differences, but this is a way to create multiple Page Tabs with JFBConnect.

Hope that makes sense, but if you need more info, let us know,
Alex
