I am using JFBConnect and would like users who log into my site to be able to add their email address automatically to my Mailchimp Email list. There seem to be a number of Joomla extensions that will allow you to do this when they sign up using the standard Joomla sign-up form. I have mine set up so that it sets up the user in K2.

You can see the extensions I am speaking about here:
extensions.joomla.org/search?q=mailchimp

Any recommendations on how I can streamline this process would be greatly appreciated.

Andy

Bump...
Did you ever get a response? I am interested in integrating MailChimp with Jlinked.
Thanks!

Nope, I'm afraid I didn't get an answer to this.

Sorry for the non-response previously! I actually did do some research on this, but then never got back to you as I didn't get all the info I needed.

For your question, right now, now, we don't have a way built-in to JFBConnect (or JLinked) to sign up for a newsletter during registration. Before, I was looking for a Joomla User plugin that may extend the user registration form to add the signup you were looking for. We execute the Joomla User plugins during registration, so any that work with built-in Joomla registration *should* work with JFBConnect/JLinked as well. Unfortunately, we haven't tested any of the extensions in the JED for doing this.

Oddly, on a side note, probably the best MailChimp integration extension, JoomlaMailer, isn't listed on the JED. Not sure if I just missed it, or it's not listed for some reason. It is free, and (I thought) GPL, so not sure why it's not there. Either way, a link to it is: joomlamailer.com/
They have a registration plugin that adds the signup to some forms, but I don't think it uses the normal way to extend Joomla forms, so don't think it will work immediately with our extensions. That was what I wanted to test earlier, but somehow that task got lost.

Hope that helps explain a bit. We are planning to overhaul our add-on system for profiles so that it's much easier to add fields and do other things during the registration process. That revamp should be coming next year and, hopefully, allow us to add stuff like this easier (or 3rd parties to add it easier).

Thanks, and sorry again for the delay,
Alex

We also found joomlamailer but it appears to have dropped off the JED because it is no longer supported. The latest blog post was an announcement of the release of joomlamailer for Joomla 1.7 in April 2011.

Regardless, we did try it and found it has problems with Community Builder and or Joomla 2.5. In this combination, joomlamailer inhibits the ability to make changes to CB. There are several forum posts regarding this problem dating as far back as October which have no no response.
We had to uninstall and move on which is unfortunate because it really looked good.

We were able to get minimal integration using "Chimp Your Joomla"
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/content...letter-bridges/10947

It only adds new members to mailchimp. You will have to manually import existing users and rely on mailchimp for opt-out.
We really wanted something well... like.. JoomlaMailer.
I hope this helps. I'll let you know if we find something with more features.
