I am still getting the "error" message when I try clicking "Like". It registers the Like on the flummi.net page but nothing shows up on my wall. I'll contact my FB-Friend tomorrow to see if he also saw an error.

Awesome! Glad to hear the overflow issue is resolved.. whew!

As for the Like button for flummis.net button, the text, description and image you set using the Open Graph tags is what will be used. So, you need to add the following to your home page:
{SCOpenGraph title=Title for page}
{SCOpenGraph description=Description for page}
{SCOpenGraph image=http://www.flummis.net/link-to-image-for-page.jpg}

You can add that in an article or use a Custom HTML module with the title off to insert the tags.

As for the Like button, I just clicked it.. looks like you updated the URL to include the http://.. nice! There was a post to my wall and things looked good. I also see the count is at almost 30, so it looks like it's moving/working now.

Keep us posted!
Alex

Thank you!
I've added in an Open Graph plugin.
There is still the issue with the error.
File Attachment:

The pop-up to add a message appears for a second and then disappears again before you can write anything and this error shows up. Others have also reported it to me, and it happens in different browsers and systems, so it isn't my settings or cache. It seems that when this error occurs, nothing or only the text link shows up on the Facebook wall (like the screen shot I sent yesterday. In your case, there was no error and the image also showed up on your wall.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Larry

Larry,
Can you post the URL of the exact page you're testing with? Want to make sure we're looking at the same thing instead of debugging 2 separate pages. Then we can check if there are any odd things about that page.

Also, is the red Error link clickable? Sometimes it is and will provide more information about what the error is.

Beyond that, any knowledge of browser-specific behavior or anything else that might narrow down the cause? Unfortunately, we only have so much control over the Like button. Facebook has spam and malicious checks as well as a lot of other types of things to prevent abuse. The last course of action may be that you have to contact Facebook to see if they can provide any more clarity. Not there yet though.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Good tip! The error message that I get when I click on the word "error" is:
The app ID specified within the "fb:app_id" meta tag is not allowed on this domain. You must setup the Connect Base Domains for your app to be a prefix of www.flummis.net/index.php/charakter/30-a-und-b.
I'm afraid I don't know what that means... or why it sometimes works (for you) and sometimes doesn't (for me).
Thanks,
Larry

Awesome! I love more information!

Go into JFBConnect Autotune, go to FB App and click Refresh. See if there are any errors/recommendations to set. Then, make sure the App Domain setting is flummis.net

My guess is that it's set to www.flummis.net or something, which means if a user comes to your site without the www, the Like button won't work. The Site URL needs to have flummis.net in it as well.

Hopefully that will fix things up!

Right again! It seems like everything is working. I am still getting one flag in the AutoTune:
File Attachment:

It doesn't seem to be causing any problem, but it makes me nervous.
Otherwise, I'll keep an eye on things and get back to you if any other trouble occurs.
Thanks again for all your help!

Nope, don't worry about that one. When you first ran autotune, you were at the www. version of your site. Now you're at the non-www version. You'll get the error when you're on the 'opposite' one. You may want to consider a redirect in your .htaccess file or an SEF extension to force either www or non-www though. It's good for SEO and other purposes so that there aren't 2 versions of every page on your site.

No problem for the help though, and good luck!

Finally, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect, or our support. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!

I'm back again. Sorry to be a pain.
I did some testing over the weekend. There are no errors showing up now (GREAT!) but I'm not getting the results I'd like on Facebook. What I'd actually like to be seeing is this sort of post to the wall:
File Attachment:

What I'm seeing is a) sometimes a screen like you sent me of your wall, b) sometimes just a text link with no image and c) sometimes nothing on the wall, but the image and comments show up on the timeline. Do you have any insight on that?
Thanks,
Larry

Larry,
You can't be a pain. You subscribed to our extension. We're here to support you!

As for the posts, Facebook has a lot of leeway as for how it will post things. There's a lot of 'stuff' going on behind the scenes where they decide how it should be posted. A Like doesn't guarantee a full post to a user's wall; it simply depends on how much that post has already been Like'd, how often the user hide's Like posts on their wall, and a ton of other factors. We're working on ways that a user can share a full post (with a comment) to their wall, and we can help you implement something like that now if you'd like.. however, that's more hurdles for a user to go through instead of a simple Like click.. there's click, popup, add a comment, click "Post" again. But, after those steps, Facebook realizes the user really wants that on his wall. Hope that part makes sense.

As for how to best set things up to try to make the Like posts go to a user's wall, make sure you have a good title, description and image for every page that you have a Like button on (see my post above on how to add the SCOpenGraph tags). These are set with the Open Graph tags of JFBConnect, but we'll try to 'guess' them for most pages automatically. You can use the URL Debug Tool to see what Facebook sees about your page. If the info there is wrong, missing, or looks 'spammy', that would lessen the chance for a Like to go to a Wall.

Let us know if you need more info, and good luck!
